Monarch Mountain is a privately owned ski area in Monarch, Colorado. Our annual snowfall is about 350 inches of all natural snow. The base elevation at Monarch is 10,790 feet and the summit elevation is 11,952 feet. Monarch Mountain is truly a special place. It’s been said that “it takes a village” to achieve greatness, but here we believe “it takes a family.”

We are located 20 miles west of Salida, CO in the San Isabel National Forest on the continental divide.

About Monarch Mountain

Monarch Mountain is a privately owned ski area 20 minutes west of Salida, Colorado on the continental divide. Monarch is all natural, we do not use artificial snow and our annual snowfall averages 350 inches. There are six lifts and two terrain parks open during the winter. The base elevation at Monarch is 10,790 feet and the summit elevation is 11,952 feet. We pride ourselves on hiring the friendliest employees and providing an outstanding experience for our staff and guests alike. Room and Board

Most employees live in the town of Salida or Buena Vista. There are local resources we can offer to assist in finding housing. At this time, Monarch Mountain does not offer employee housing.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Monarch provides an Employee Shuttle to work during the winter season. Please ask about pickup locations and times. Monarch is located 3 hours southwest from the Denver International Airport.

Come work at Monarch Mountain and take advantage of the number of cool things to do here all year!

  • For fun, you can take advantage of your ride breaks in the wintertime. 
  • A lot of employee's who work here in the winter hold rafting jobs in the summer and live here year-round.
  • The valley in the wintertime is very dry, so there is mountain biking year-round! 
  • There are a number of great places to eat in the town of Salida as well as a number of great bars to hang out at after work with friends. 
  • The Mount Princeton Hot Springs is about a 20-minute drive from Downtown Salida and is a great place to keep warm in the winter.
