Escape the city life and join us in the beautiful Oregon Eagle Cap Wilderness. We are hiring seasonal employees for the 2023 summer. Most positions begin May 27th for an all-staff training week, and end around October 14th. The guest season begins June 3rd and ends October 9th. All applicants must be able to provide personal transportation to Enterprise, Oregon for start date. Food and housing provided at no cost to the employee.

The Dishwasher/Grounds position is versatile and supports the kitchen, hospitality and grounds team in guest operations. As dishwasher, you will work as part of the kitchen team in washing dishes, food prep, and processing of our garden produce. The grounds position offers support to arriving guests, maintaining the property and assisting with maintenance. You'll get a little bit of everything with this position!
Responsibilities:
- Washes dishes, glassware and pots and pans by hand and using a commercial sanitizer;
- Regularly maintains a clean and sanitary dishwashing area;
- Assists chefs in food preparation and meal service as needed;
- Assists in garden as needed;
- Maintains grounds in excellent condition, including paths, roads, woods and airstrip;
- Processes firewood for Lodge, cabins, kitchen, hot tub and sauna;
- Meets guest and supply flights to deliver guests, luggage, and supplies around the property via RTV;
- Transports garbage, recycling, compost, and empty fuel canisters for outgoing flights;
- Maintains outdoor facilities in neat, clean and organized condition;
- Maintains a helpful and positive attitude towards guests and team members;
- Consistently offers professional, friendly, and engaging service;
- Follows all food service rules and regulations.
Education, Experience, Skills:- Oregon Food Handlers card;
- Previous dishwashing experience preferred;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Team player who shows initiative and cares about doing a great job, to work as member of a tight-knit group;
- Ability to live and work for an intense four-month season in a remote setting;
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, climb stairs, hike frequently on uneven terrain carrying heavy loads or with a cart;
- Understand and embrace all policies and procedures in employee handbook.

The Lodge Gardener grows a productive wilderness garden to support the kitchen of our busy wilderness lodge. The greenhouse and garden also serve as a focal point of the property and receive frequent visitors. The Lodge Gardener also cultivates native plants around the Lodge and cabins and contributes to overall property restoration. This position is part of the kitchen team, led by the Head Chef and General Manager.
The Minam River Lodge is located in the middle of Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness. The Lodge is accessible only by an 8.5-mile hike or a flight to its wilderness airstrip. The Lodge, which is open from early June until mid-October, accommodates approximately 36 guests in a variety of accommodations and has been recognized as one of the best new hotels in the world by Conde Naste Traveler.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, plants and grows a wilderness garden that provides a plentiful supply of food for the kitchen and serves as a beautiful focal point of the property;
- Works and communicates closely with Head Chef to achieve primary food production goals of providing:
- greens, herbs, microgreens, garnishes, bouquet flowers;
- Harvests produce regularly and communicates effectively with kitchen staff about available produce;
- Leads the Lodge composting program;
- Provides direction and guidance to others working in the garden;
- Grows and harvests flowers for the guest room and Lodge bouquets;
- Leads restoration of native vegetation in areas around the Lodge and cabins;
- Maintains equipment and facilities in excellent condition in the garden area;
- Communicates effectively with the General Manager about supply needs;
- Is enthusiastic, friendly and helpful always to team and Lodge guests;
- Consistently offers professional, friendly, and engaging service;
- Understands and follows all policies and procedures in the employee manual and hospitality manual.
Education, Experience, Skills:
- High school degree or equivalent;
- 2 yrs experience gardening, harvesting and/or landscaping in a commercial environment
- Team player who takes initiative and works well as a member of a close-knit staff;
- Passion for plants and great food;
- Ability to live and work for an intense six-month season in a remote setting with infrequent breaks;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, hike frequently on uneven terrain carrying heavy loads or with a cart.

The server/housekeeper position is a combination position of housekeeper and wait staff, and will be very much front and center with guests. In both positions, the team member is committed to delivering friendly, exceptional guest services. The nature of our lodge allows for fun and genuine interactions; we have great guests! As waitstaff, you will serve and clear food and beverages for up to approximately 36 guests with flexibility to serve larger groups on occasion. Housekeeping responsibilities include a timely, thorough and consistent turn-over of accommodations, as well as washing and folding linens and maintaining the cleanliness of shared lodge areas. If you are a yoga teacher, that is a plus! If so, part of your work day would be leading one class per day (no more than 6 days a week) in our beautiful open-air barn.
This position reports to the Hospitality Team Leader and Lodge Manager regularly and also will have frequent contact with the Owner.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the Lodge to guests with a knowledgeable, cheerful, positive manner at all times
- Perform general housekeeping duties according to provided checklists
- Wash, dry, and fold lodge linens and towels daily to maintain ready-to-use inventory;
- Housekeeping of accommodations-- 9 cabins, 3 wall tents, and 3 lodge rooms-- includes:
- clean and replace linens
- clean bathrooms/showers
- dust, sweep, mop, and any other cleaning tasks as required
- communicate with management on room status
- Housekeeping of shared lodge areas duties includes:
- clean shared bathrooms/shower rooms
- clean dining room/table areas and hallways by vacuuming, dusting, mopping and washing windows
- wash and fold napkins
- any other cleaning tasks as required, including deep cleanings
- Meals service duties include:
- provide the setups, clearing, and cleaning of dining area
- take guest orders, serve meals and beverages for breakfast and lunch
- serve main courses, desserts and beverages for family-style dinner
- occasional rotating dishwashing shift
- input guest purchases using the Square system
- Bar Service duties include:
- Service of beer, wine, and cocktails during meals and bar shifts
- Knowledge of all beer, wine and cocktails in house
- Bartending to execute quality drinks following house recipes and quantities
- Comprehensive knowledge of wine list and service
Education, Experience, Skills:- Minimum two years of experience in hospitality industry;
- Oregon Food Handlers and OLCC card;
- must be at least 21 by start of guest season (June 4);
- Previous housekeeping experience preferred but not required;
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, climb stairs, hike frequently on uneven terrain carrying heavy loads or with a cart;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Team player who shows initiative and works well as a member of a close-knit staff;
- Ability to live and work for an intense four-month season in a remote setting.
