  • Bartender

    Food and Beverage

    Responsible for greeting guests in person and selling food and cooking food and bartending. Training will be provided but bartenders must become proficient quickly with all products and in POS software application in order to provide an optimal experience.

    Job Summary: Assists and provides instruction to all passengers in the safe loading and unloading of ski lifts, while providing excellent customer service by interacting with all lift passengers.

    Essential Functions:

    •  Assist all passengers in the safe loading and unloading of the ski lift
    •  Maintain load and unload ramps and areas around all lift stations
    •  Identify and report any unusual problems or hazardous conditions to ensure the publics safety
    •  Be familiar with all policies, procedures and rules regarding operating and riding a ski lift
    •  Perform daily pre-operation inspections and post-operation shutdown procedures

  • Parking Attendents

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

    • Have the desire to get new skiers/riders into the proper equipment.
    • Fit Boots, Skis, Snowboards and/or Poles to guest satisfaction
    • Ensure guests are well-equipped for a day on the mountain
    • Demonstrate proper knowledge of company cash handling policies and procedure
    • Arrive on time, with proper, clean uniform and appearance
    • Maintain rental fleet and inventory
    • Assist with tracking equipment and inventory regularly.
    • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ski/Snowboard Instructors will serve as a professional representative of Lookout Pass. They will be a member of an interdependent team dedicated to creating the best possible environment for taking and teaching a ski or snowboard lesson. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Maintains safety and skier/snowboarder responsibility as top priority while skiing/riding and teaching.
    • Instructs group and private lessons of varying ability levels, as assigned.
    • Instructs students of any age, sex and learning ability, as assigned.
    • Makes continued effort to improve personal skiing/riding skills, teaching skills and knowledge.
    • Serves as a public relations representative for Lookout Pass, both on and off the job.
    • Greets and assists guests in a friendly, helpful, respectful manner.
    • Provides “little extras” to guests, such as giving directions and resort information.
    • Remembers that a smile and a friendly, helping hand can make a guest’s vacation.
    • LISTENS to guest’s needs and concerns.
    • Responsible for all information from Ski and Snowboard School bulletin boards, weekly notes and required meetings. 
    • Appreciates that teamwork is essential for the success of the guests, Snowsports Department and Resort.

    Ski School Sales Desk Responsibilities:

    • Answering customer email inquires
    • Answering customers phone calls and returning phone messages
    • Organizing groups by level to meet class size and age requirements
    • Managing instructor availability/schedule with lesson requests
    • Managing multi-visit program usage and scheduling
    • Cashier duties, including managing balances due
    • Check in for lessons

    Skills:

    This is a fast-paced sales job. It requires strong communication skills, and the ability to explain, and pair the guest with the appropriate product. Product understanding is key to being able to do this, and the ability to organize schedules for staff and guests. Previous ski school experience is preferred but not required.

  • Terrain Park Supervisor and Head Builder

    Mountain Operations

    $15.00 - $18.00 / hour

    Summary/Responsibility:

    The Terrain Park Supervisor/Builder will oversee daily maintenance of the terrain parks. Has good public relations. Sets a good example of terrain park etiquette at all times. Keeps track of and maintains tools and equipment (rakes, shovels, drills, radios, etc) Inspects and tests features within the terrain parks to ensure all features are free of damage and to determine if snow maintenance is required. Communicates with the Mountain Manager and Grooming Supervisor to go over daily plans and events.

    This is a full time and year around potential position. The summer role would be determined based on experience and needs in our summer operations or Route of the Hiawatha Bike Trail.

     

     

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum two years’ experience working in terrain parks

    • Must have freestyle terrain skiing/riding experience

    • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 60 pounds on an occasional basis, and a minimum of 20 pounds on a frequent basis

    • Ability to safely ski or snowboard in adverse conditions and on steep terrain, including freestyle terrain

    • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on an occasional basis

    • Ability to work out side in ANY AND ALL weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures

  • Ticketing Agent

    Ticketing Agent is responsible for greeting guests in person and over the phone with a courteous and pleasant demeanor. Agents are responsible for selling daily lift tickets and season passes. Training will be provided but agents must become proficient quickly with all products and in POS software application in order to provide an optimal experience. The goals of a Guest Service Agent are: to ensure that guests understand the products and experiences that we offer, and quickly and professionally resolve any guest concerns.

    The Vehicle Shop Supervisor is directly responsible for the maintenance and performance,
    troubleshooting and repair of all rolling stock, including the Company’s light trucks, loaders,
    track vehicles (snow cats), busses and ATV’s. Also, may assist with Lift Maintenance stand by
    motors. This is a hands on position.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
     Manage workflow, create schedules and prioritize tasks.
     Ensure performance standards are met by organizing and monitoring work processes.
     Conduct training when needed.
     Created and maintain a healthy work environment.
     Maintain and manage fuel inventory.
     Order and keep appropriate parts and supplies.
     Work in coordination with other department supervisors.
    Other Duties and Responsibilities:
     Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
     Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Lookout Pass management team.
    Actively participate in strategizing repair, maintain or replace equipment with the
    General Manager.
     Maintain excellent relationships with vendors and sponsors associated with the
    company.
     Must have the ability to properly diagnose and repair diesel engines, gas engines and
    hydrostatic systems.
     Must have the ability to properly diagnose electrical systems and follow schematics.
     Must be familiar and competent with metal weldment processes including ARC, MIG,
    Brazing and Soldering.
     Must be familiar with metal cutting processes including Oxy Acetylene torch.
     Must understand safety management.
     Must possess a comprehensive set of hand pneumatic tools.
     Must be self-motivated.
     Strong multi-tasking skills and highly organized.
     Other duties as assigned.
     Must be willing to work a minimum of 10-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, early and late
    shifts with little to know notice.


    Supervisory Duties:

     Hire, train, review, and discipline employees.

  • Ski Patrol-Paid Hourly

    Ski Patrol is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guest with

    excellent customer service on or off the mountain. In addition to emergency rescue and

    mountain safety, ski patrollers are hosts, guides and information centers. You will

    sometimes be asked to undertake details or to perform tasks that are not specifically

    mentioned in this job description or completely outside your area of responsibility. Your

    willing, cheerful and enthusiastic cooperation is expected and greatly appreciated.

     

    Primary Job Qualifications:

    A positive attitude and enthusiasm is a must. You must be in superb physical condition as this job requires very hard laborious work during long periods of intense cold or heat and harsh weather. Activities include hiking, shoveling snow, operating chain saws, using hand tools, lift evacuation training and anything else that you can imagine that this industry has to offer in regards to the tasks that need to be accomplished. In other words, you will be a jack of all trades.

     

     

     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

     

     

    The list below best represents the majority of the tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your Ski Patrol tenure at Lookout Pass Ski Area.

     

    It is not intended to represent all of the tasks, since we cannot predict the variety of challenges we face in providing the product our guest expects.  We will never ask you to perform a task that is inherently unsafe or that you are not adequately trained to perform.

     

    When we do ask for your assistance in any job, we require an enthusiastic and cooperative response.

     

    • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service.  This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner, and being able to answer questions professionally.
    • Maintain open communication with other departments.
    • Maintain safe and easy access within the patrol aid room and ski patrol shacks.
    • Ensure all forms are kept up and filed appropriately.
    • Be able and trained to operating a chair lift when needed.
    • Master basic rope rescue skills.
    • Obtain competency in lift evacuations skills.

    • Become proficient in the use of a chain saw.
    • Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions and related information intended to help the guest maximize their skiing experience.
    • Be prepared to participate in search and rescues.
    • Be prepared to assist in avalanche reduction work.
    • Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.

    • Willingness to work during extreme weather conditions.

    • Requires the skills of a host.  This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.

    Work Schedules

     

     

    Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Lookout Pass employees. 

     

    When conditions are normal, you can expect to work 4 to 5 days a week at 40 to 50 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. 

     

    Work schedules, staffing levels and weather conditions may dictate when lunches and breaks will be taken.

     

    You must arrange for transportation to work so you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time.  Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy surfaces.

     

     

     

    Working Conditions

     

     

    At any time during the ski season, Lookout Pass employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfall, low visibility, rain and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

     

     

    Uniforms

     

     

    To project a professional appearance at Lookout Pass, your department requires a uniform be worn, including a nametag.  Please wear both at all times during your scheduled shift. Keep your uniform clean and in good repair.


    We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job.  However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. 

     

    Items You Must Provide

    • Watch
    • Sunglasses
    • Goggles
    • Gloves
    • Knife
    • Warm boots with Vibram soles
    • Ski equipment and ski bindings that pass a binding function test (you should be aware you are responsible for any damage to your equipment while at work).

     

     

    Approved Routes for Skiing & Snowboarding

    I understand that the approved routes for skiing for work purposes will be all-mountain within the ski area boundary. Any out of bounds skiing must be approved by the Pro Patrol Director. Out of bounds skiing would encompass backcountry orientation for search and rescue missions and would be documented as such training. Additionally, at no time will patrollers be allowed to participate in ski racing, terrain park jumping, jumping off cornices, horseplay and anything else that’s not in the scope of normal departmental duties.

     

    The skiing employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees.  You are required to be aware of all safe skiing/boarding procedures, trail closures, out-of-bounds policies and designated skiing and boarding routes.

  • Terrain Park Builder

    Operations

    $12.00 - $14.00 / hour
