Lake Alpine Lodge
Profile Jobs

Our Jobs

Couples, friends, and those with mobile housing strongly encouraged to apply!

Lake Alpine Lodge sits at 7200 feet above sea level. Candidates with known respiratory or medical issues that may be exacerbated by this should be confident of their ability to work at high altitudes, preferably from experience. The high altitude can also bring extreme weather patterns, and those working into the fall should be prepared for possible, though not usually extended, winter storms.

Our season runs from June through mid-October. Employees will work all weekends from start date up to and including Labor Day weekend. Employees working the entire season are given priority for time off requests over those working only peak season. Those seeking shorter or part time employment are evaluated on a case by case basis.

Though we expect it of all our employees, it is especially important that those hoping to work into the late season can work alone and unsupervised; recognizing and completing necessary tasks on their own and taking on duties from other departments (including possible manual labor).

Staff housing and meals are not guaranteed outside of the dates of employment, though we do our best to accommodate when necessary and possible.

All restaurant staff must possess their Safe Food Handlers certifications.

  • Bartender/Cocktail Server

    Restaurant Bar
    Bear Valley
    $14.00 / hour + tips

Our bar is open daily through lunch and dinner, earlier on the weekends to serve our beloved Alpine Bloody Marys. The Lake Alpine Lodge Bar is a casual, comfortable venue, with our bartenders exuding the welcoming, knowledgeable attitude expected at a mountain lodge.

It is difficult to say exactly how the bar will be functioning with Covid regulations. For the 2020 season, customers were allowed inside to order (drinks only, food was ordered outside), and no guests were permitted to sit at the bar. Drinks were enjoyed at our extensive outdoor seating. Experienced bartenders know that cutting out extended interactions and large dinner tabs results in a serious deficit in tips. While we don't know exactly how the bar will be functioning, we can be fairly certain it will not be a room packed with guests ordering drinks and burgers like we are accustomed to in the past. Our most successful bartenders in the 2020 season worked hard to create opportunities for relationships with guests.

Bartenders work alone, in pairs, and/or functioning as cocktail server servicing the outdoor areas on busy days. Barbacking, stocking, and prep work are completed by bartenders.

While bartending experience is not strictly required, candidates without experience are encouraged to show their guest service abilities to be considered for this competitive position. Out of our entire staff, bartenders usually have the longest interactions with our guests. We rely on our bartenders’ ability to engage and build relationships while simultaneously meeting customer dining needs, often with every seat occupied.

The bar receives tips, which are split among bar staff.
