Small, family-run fishing lodge on Kodiak Island seeking an experienced cook to independently run the kitchen for the final stretch of our summer season. This is a remote, fly-in operation with small guest groups.
Arrival: You'll need to arrive before August 1 to be oriented and ready to cook on day one. Exact arrival date is flexible.
The kitchen:
Breakfast served at 7am. Sack lunches for clients & guides packed daily. Appetizers served at 4pm, dinner at 6pm with dessert. You manage the full kitchen — menu planning, prep, execution, inventory. Restocking is coordinated with our operations manager in town and delivered via prior floatplane availability.
Housekeeping (same role):
Dishes, vacuuming shared spaces daily, guest linens, and turning over beds for incoming clients. Guides assist with cleaning, this is a team effort work environment.
Who this is for:
Someone who has run a kitchen — not assisted in one. You've managed inventory, planned menus, and cooked full meal service independently. Prior lodge, remote, or camp kitchen experience is strongly preferred. You're organized, self-directed, and comfortable working without supervision in a remote setting.
Who this isn't for:
If you're looking for a line cook or sous chef position with a team around you, this isn't the right fit. You are the kitchen.
What we offer:
Competitive monthly salary, room and board included, plus a share of guest tips. Kodiak Island — brown bears, wild coastline, world-class fishing outside the door.
Dates: August 1 – September 12, 2026, with possible extension into late July depending on bookings.
How to Apply
To apply, email your resume, a brief cover letter, and two to three references to info@kodiakwildernesslodge.com. Tell us about your kitchen experience, especially if you've cooked in a remote or lodge setting. We're a small operation — personality and reliability matter as much as your resume. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
