Keep the Fleet Rolling in the Last Frontier: Bike Tech & Guest Services in Skagway, AK

Klondike Electric Bicycles is looking for an energetic, mechanically inclined, and guest-focused Bike Maintenance Tech & Front Desk Associate to join our team in historic Skagway, Alaska, for the upcoming cruise season.

This dual role is the heartbeat of our shop operations. You’ll spend part of your day keeping our fleet of electric bicycles running smoothly, safely, and ready to roll, and the other part welcoming travelers from around the world at our front desk—processing rentals, delivering rider safety briefings, and ringing up sales in our gift shop.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fleet Care & Preventative Maintenance: Inspect, tune, and repair electric bicycles (brakes, tire pressures, chains, derailleurs, torque checks) and manage battery charging stations.

• Front Desk Hospitality: Welcome guests, handle reservations and walk-in check-ins via tablet POS (Square), verify waivers, and answer visitor questions with local hospitality.

• Rider Briefings & Staging: Deliver enthusiastic, clear safety briefings on e-bike controls, hand out helmets, size bikes, and stage equipment for individual renters and tour groups.

• Team Coordination: Assist with shop opening/closing procedures, keep retail displays tidy, and coordinate with our tour guides and cleaning crew during peak turnaround rushes.

Housing & Living in Skagway

• Employee Housing Available: Affordable shared seasonal employee housing located right in town.

• Housing Cost: Approximately $525–$550/month rent plus flat utility/internet fee ($75/month), with high-speed internet, water, electricity, and trash included.

• No Commute Necessary: Housing is walkable to the shop, grocery store, trails, and downtown Skagway.

• Life in Skagway: Nestled at the northern tip of the Lynn Canal surrounded by towering peaks, Skagway offers world-class hiking (Dewey Lakes, AB Mountain, Chilkoot Trail), kayaking, road tripping into the Yukon, and a vibrant seasonal community.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with bicycle assembly, repair, or shop mechanics (disc brakes and e-bike familiarity is a big plus).

• Friendly, outgoing personality comfortable speaking to groups during safety orientations.

• Tech comfort with iPad-based POS systems and reservation management.

• Ability to lift, maneuver, and rack e-bikes weighing 55–65 lbs.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Valid driver’s license preferred.
