Camp Kieve & Wavus Camp

For nearly 100 years, Camp Kieve for boys and Wavus Camp for girls have attracted the very best young leaders to serve as role models for campers and guide them in camp and on wilderness expeditions throughout Maine and New Hampshire. Kieve and Wavus offer two 26-day sessions each summer for campers, ages eight through 17.

On Damariscotta Lake in beautiful Midcoast Maine. Camp Kieve for boys is in Nobleboro and Wavus Camp for girls is in Jefferson.

About Kieve Wavus Education, Inc.

Year after year our staff talk about this being the best job ever ... and our alumni echo it long after departing for their careers. Each counselor we hire is responsible for one group of campers in each of our two sessions. This group is their camp family, and our staff lead our campers on progressively longer wilderness trips. Eight-year-olds go on one overnight and a two-night trip while our 16- and 17-year-olds go on a 22-day expedition.

The Employee Experience

While Kieve and Wavus are on opposite sides of Damariscotta Lake, our staff are all part of the broader organization. Kieve and Wavus staff spend time with each other throughout the summer, creating a national network of peers that extends long after the summer ends. Even without technology, our staff can easily stay connected to each other. Each counselor has the ability—based on their experience and comfort—to help lead everything from one- and two-night camping trips to 11-, 13-, 18-, or 22-day expeditions. Midcoast Maine is spectacular during the summer and is a great place to be when not leading your campers on wilderness trips!

Ideal Candidate

A college student who wants to be challenged by helping to lead wilderness trips while also being an amazing role model for campers ages eight to 17 at one of the most incredible camps out there. From lake activities to sports, to world-class challenge courses—it is a special place to live and work.

Room and Board

100% provided. Beyond the gear and traveling to and from camp (which we can support), the only costs are what you decide to do on your days off!

Employee Perks

Free golf at our local course, a full gym at the Kieve campus available to all staff, getting to use camp facilities and hang on a beautiful Maine lake during time off, access to Damariscotta - a ton of restaurants and one of the oyster capitals of the world.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Portland International Jetport (PWM), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), train, or bus are the easiest ways to get to Damariscotta. A lot of folks bring their own cars. Once you are here, there are camp vehicles, and it's easy to get into town for whatever you may need. We can also help you get a ride to camp!

For Fun

The staff is incredible, the camps are even more fun, and our counselors do all sorts of cool things on their time off, including dining out at great restaurants, attending concerts, going on beautiful hikes, etc. Midcoast Maine truly might be the best place to be in summer. Rarely hot and humid, and just consistently beautiful weather with breathtaking surroundings.
