                                                                                      Part-time Housekeeper for Backcountry Inn

                                                         The Len Foote Hike Inn is hiring a part-time housekeeper to join our team (32 hours/week). 


Our housekeeping staff  play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in our facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests and staff alike. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service that meets high standards.The role of the housekeeper is to ensure that the cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and laundry meet high quality Hike Inn standards.  


The part-time housekeeper work shifts are usually 4 days a week  8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hot lunch is served to staff daily at noon. Staff housing is available and located a few minutes walk separate from the guest area. Daily job responsibilities include cleaning the guest rooms, the bathhouse, the common areas and washing and folding laundry to have folded linens and towels available for guest check-in. The inn is open year round and our staff often stay with us for one to several years.

The Len Foote Hike Inn is a LEED certified Georgia State Park facility nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains of Chattahoochee National Forest, located 5-miles by trail north of Amicalola Falls State Park and 4.4-miles from Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

From experienced A.T. thru-hikers to the novice first timer hikers -  whether families, couples, or individuals - our guests enjoy a unique getaway stay. We offer twenty private guest rooms, hot showers, fresh linens, home-cooked meals served family-style, educational programs, and a small community atmosphere. The Hike Inn’s mission is to facilitate a connection with nature, conservation and sustainability and to protect Georgia’s natural resources through education and recreation.

The Hike Inn is well-known for providing exceptional guest services with welcoming Southern hospitality. We are looking for a part-time housekeeper with a great attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and who likes being a team player. Known for our facility’s cleanliness, the role of the housekeeper is to ensure that the cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and laundry meet Hike Inn high standards. Option of live on or offsite.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Clean guest rooms and public areas. 

  • Clean and sanitize the bath house showers, sinks, counters, mirrors and toilets.

  • Replenish toiletries and towels.

  • Sweep and mop wood floors; dust furniture and polish as needed.

  • Clean glass panes in doors and windows; clear cobwebs. 

  • Collect, sort, launder, fold, transport and distribute linens.

  • Maintain supplies as needed.

  • Report maintenance issues, needed repairs or safety hazards to management promptly.

  • Assigned special projects as directed by managers.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others and independently of supervisor with a high degree of initiative, motivation and attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately, to be organized, and manage time effectively.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform physically challenging work outdoors and in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Awareness of health and safety procedures.

  • Familiarity with hotel operations or hospitality industry standards in remote locations is a plus. 


Compensation:  Starting wages at $14-$16/hour based on experience plus an equal share of the tip pool, which average an additional $2-$3/hour.


Benefits:

A comfortable private room can be provided for one individual (no families or pets). Rent, utilities and meals are included. Enrollment in a telemedicine insurance plan.
