Seasonal employment opportunity for a Hospitality position at high profile SE Alaska Fishing Lodge!

The Highliner Lodge is a thriving, ambitious fishing lodge. As an expanding business, we are looking for motivated, honest, hardworking, and talented individuals to join our team. The lodge is located in the remote fishing village of Pelican.

We expect superior performance from our employees, in personal hygiene, professional contact with our customers and relations with other employees. The most important factors that we look for when hiring a person is a good attitude and a strong work ethic. If you aren't willing to put in long hours, this is not the place for you. We expect good manners, good grooming, and a professional appearance above reproach.

We expect that the workweek will average 70-80 hours. We like to work hard but know how to have fun also, did we mention we work a lot? Ideally you will have a couple hours off in the middle of the day to kayak, fish, work out, explore (or nap). 

You will be joining a really great team who are supportive of each other and our collective goals. Most of our employees return to the lodge every summer. 

We are not a party lodge! Drama, unprofessionalism, and excessive drinking are absolutely not tolerated. Our staff voluntarily limits alcohol use to 3 drinks per day, smoking is discouraged, and all drug use including marijuana is prohibited. 


Hospitality Job description:
Work under the supervision and direction of the Domestic Manager and General Manager. 

  • Opening of restaurant each morning (including coffee making, table setting, breakfast, attending to guest needs) 

  • Responsible for keeping track on and accounting the guests billings and tips 

  • Accurately keeping bar tabs (Head Housekeeper will prepare bill for check out) 

  • Daily cleaning of lodging areas, including, halls, stairs, baseboards, guest houses, guest suites, guest rooms, and all corresponding bathrooms 

  • Laundering clothes for guests and bedding for the lodge 

  • Restocking Juices, coffee, tea, cleaning supply closets, ect from storage

  • Serving meals and drinks to our guests (must be 21+ to serve alcoholic beverages) 

  • Cleaning of dining area and kitchen and corresponding bathrooms 

  • Washing guest dishes during and after meal service 

  • Assisting the kitchen with meal prep, table setting, etc. 

  • You must be flexible and able to help out in any capacity required to make the lodge run smoothly. This may include fish cutting, boat cleaning, lodge maintenance, office work, etc.

Requirements:

Organized, clean, efficient, and attention for detail 

  • Have or willing to get a food handlers and TAP card

  • Able to clearly communicate with coworkers and managers

  • Able to complete cleaning tasks and follow instructions 

  • Able to work independently 

  • Outgoing and courteous with clients and staff 

  • Able to lift 40 lbs and in good physical condition 

  • Be drug free, able to pass a drug test, and willing to take a drug test at any time 

  • Be a non or very light drinker (limited to 3 beers or 2 glasses of wine in a 24 hour period)

  • Able to live and work in a close/shared/communal environment with co-workers 

Daily Schedule 

  • 5:00-5:30 (rotating shift) - Start coffee and fill airpots for boats, set up lunch station for guests 

  • 5:30-6:30 Breakfast service/cleanup (boats leave harbor at 6:30) 

  • 6:30-7:00 Second breakfast for departing guest / after that eat breakfast and discuss game plan for the day d. 7:00-7:30 Assist with checkout, label luggage 

  • 7:30-12:00 Housekeeping 

  • 12:00-1:00 Lunch is served for all shoreside employees, after which you will typically get a break until 4:30 (if duties are completed) 

  • 4:30-5:00 (rotating shift) - greeting guests and helping them pick out rain gear 

  • 4:45-6:00 Be available for returning fishing guest needs (serve drinks and appetizers, helping in kitchen) 

  • 6:00-8:00 Dinner service

  • 8:00-9:00 Eat and clean up restaurant

Compensation:

  • $6,000 Share of tips paid at the end of the season, typically 1-3% ($5,000 - $10,000)

  • Rehire bonus every year you come back

  • Future opportunities to earn a share of profit and vested ownership of properties

  • Room and board ($600/mo) 

  • Use of laundry facilities, boats, and kayaks (with permission) and weight room
