Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate to work in Olympic National Park is someone who possesses a deep appreciation for nature and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. They are adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable working in a remote setting with limited access to modern conveniences.

They bring excellent interpersonal skills, enjoying interactions with park visitors and fellow team members alike, and take pride in providing exceptional service and education about the park’s natural and cultural history.

Whether maintaining facilities, supporting operations, or engaging with the public, they uphold the values of conservation, teamwork, and respect that are essential to preserving the beauty and integrity of Olympic National Park.

Housing will be in shared dormitory-style accommodations, cabins, or staff trailers, depending on the season and position. Basic furnishings and utilities are generally included, and communal areas such as kitchens or dining halls foster a sense of community among team members.

Living in the park allows employees to fully experience the beauty of the Olympic—its sunsets, wildlife, and quiet open spaces—while being just steps away from their workplace. Getting Here and Getting Around

🚗 By Car (Most Common and Flexible Option)

  • From Seattle:
Olympic National Park is about 2–3 hours away, depending on your route.

    • Route 1: Drive south on I-5 to Tacoma, then take WA-16 west to Bremerton and WA-3 north to WA-104, crossing the Hood Canal Bridge to US-101.

    • Route 2 (Scenic Ferry Option): Take the Seattle–Bainbridge Island Ferry or Edmonds–Kingston Ferry, then drive west on WA-104 to US-101.

    • Once on US-101, you can access the main park areas, including Port Angeles (the gateway to Hurricane Ridge), Lake Crescent, the Hoh Rain Forest, and the Pacific coast beaches.

The Company may be able to assist with transportation to and from the airport and bus depot for pick up and drop off at the beginning and end of the work season.

  • Nearest major airport: Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) about 80–100 miles from the park, depending on which entrance you choose.

  • Regional option: William R. Fairchild International Airport (CLM) in Port Angeles (limited flights, mostly via small carriers).

🚍 By Public Transportation (Limited)

  • If you are traveling to Lake Crescent Lodge, or the Log Cabin Resort, there are a variety of bus and rail options. We recommend traveling via the Dungeness Bus Line, Rocket Transportation, Straight Shot light rail, or local bus for those more versed in public transportation in the area.
