Host / Hostess

Position Type: Hourly plus tips
Position Summary
The Host / Hostess is the first and last point of contact for our guests and plays an important role in creating a welcoming, organized, and exceptional dining experience.
This position is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations and seating, maintaining an accurate understanding of table availability, and communicating closely with the service team throughout each shift.
The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, organized, dependable, and comfortable interacting with guests while remaining calm and composed during busy service periods.
Our current season runs through mid-October. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door for next season, which runs from mid-May through mid-October.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Warmly greet and welcome all guests upon arrival.
Provide a friendly and professional farewell as guests depart.
Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and special seating requests.
Maintain an accurate understanding of table availability and dining room status throughout service.
Seat guests according to the established floor plan and server rotation.
Present menus and provide basic information regarding dining options, menus, and current offerings.
Communicate guest arrivals, special requests, allergies, celebrations, VIPs, and other important information to servers and management.
Work closely with servers, server assistants, bartenders, and managers to help ensure smooth and efficient service.
Monitor table progress and communicate with the service team to anticipate upcoming seating needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional host stand and entrance area.
Assist with resetting and preparing tables when needed.
Ensure menus are clean, organized, and ready for service.
Become familiar with property amenities, hours of operation, events, and other information guests may request.
Handle guest questions or concerns professionally and involve a manager when appropriate.
Assist the Food & Beverage team with additional duties as needed.
Guest Service Expectations
Hosts / Hostesses are expected to provide attentive, polished, and genuine hospitality at all times. This includes:
Acknowledging guests promptly when they arrive.
Using guest names whenever known and appropriate.
Maintaining a positive, friendly, and approachable demeanor.
Providing accurate wait times and keeping waiting guests informed.
Anticipating guest needs whenever possible.
Maintaining professionalism and discretion when interacting with guests.
Remaining calm, organized, and welcoming during high-volume service periods.
Working with the service team to create a seamless experience from arrival through departure.
Qualifications
Previous hospitality, restaurant, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Dependable and punctual.
Willingness to learn restaurant operations, menus, property amenities, and service standards.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to move throughout the restaurant and property as needed.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry items such as menus, chairs, and restaurant supplies.
Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

The Host / Hostess is expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, follow established Food & Beverage policies and procedures, and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
