Room and Board

At Denali Park Adventures, your summer home is part of the experience! We offer four unique staff campuses designed to keep you comfortable, connected, and close to the action—each with its own character and perks.  

Otto Lake Road Campus
Wake up steps from beautiful Otto Lake in Healy! This dorm-style setup features a two-story main house with 15 bedrooms and 4 private bathrooms, plus 7 cozy dry cabins. A separate building holds the kitchens and common spaces—perfect spots for cooking, hanging out, and swapping adventure stories.

McKinley Village Campus
Just 10 miles south of Denali’s main entrance, this one-story home offers six bedrooms, two private bathrooms, and a shared kitchen and living room. It’s quiet, convenient, and ideal for those who like easy access to both work and wilderness.

Hilltop Road Campus
Located in Healy near Otto Lake, this dorm-style campus features three clusters of rooms and five private bathrooms. Kitchens and common areas are close by, giving you plenty of space to relax, socialize, and recharge.

RV & Camping Lot
Prefer life on wheels or under the stars? This Healy-based lot has 9 full hook-up RV sites plus room for vans, trailers, tents—whatever adventure home you bring!  Pets are allowed at this campus in your own housing.

All campuses (except the RV lot) come equipped with full restrooms, running water, on-site laundry, Wi-Fi, TV, outdoor decks, firepits, grills, and yard games—pretty much everything you need to live comfortably and have fun. While meals aren’t included, kitchens are fully stocked with appliances and cooking essentials, and Three Bears Grocery in Healy is just a short trip away. Housing is offered at a low seasonal rate with all utilities included. Most rooms are single occupancy (yes—your own room!), and couples housing is available too. A housing agreement is required for all staff living on-site.

If shared housing or campus life isn’t your style—or if you’re traveling with a pet—you’re welcome to seek out your own local cabin or rental (not associated with Denali Park Adventures). Just keep in mind you’ll need your own transportation to and from work.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Getting to your Denali summer home has never been easier! Denali Park Adventures can assist you plan your journey to and from Denali so you can focus on the fun ahead. Most staff find it simplest (and most budget-friendly!) to fly into Anchorage, then hop on the train or a shuttle bus straight to Denali/Healy. We’ll be there to greet you at the local station or drop-off point. Bonus: our team members receive a generous discount on Alaska Railroad fares, making the trip even sweeter.

Once you’re here, getting around is a breeze. We offer a regular staff shuttle throughout the Denali area, and the National Park provides both free and fee-based shuttles to take you deeper into the wilderness for hiking, camping, and exploring. Many local hotels and restaurants also run their own shuttles, giving you plenty of transportation options.

If you prefer the freedom of the open road, bringing your own vehicle is a great way to explore Alaska on your days off—think spontaneous hikes, weekend road trips, and unlimited adventure.

    Adventure Experts are responsible for taking bookings, answering customer inquiries, and maintaining tour schedules using an online reservation system. They greet customers, check individuals and groups in, assist with retail sales, and prepare individuals and groups for their tour. Central to the role is networking with a variety of agents, from large cruise ships to small travel agencies, and coordinating guest itineraries with other adventure companies in Denali.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Establish a warm and friendly relationship with guests in person, on the phone, or via e-mail.

    • Actively engaging with local foot-traffic is a requirement as direct tour sales make up a bulk of the job. Doors to the Tour Headquarters and Offices remain open during tour hours so it is important to dress for the weather.

    • Adventure Experts will share Tour Check-In responsibilities that will require movement between the three offices and even the tour launch sites on a daily basis.

    • Manage reservations through an online reservation system and conduct retail sales including the management of cash, credit cards, and POS system.

    • Work with independent travel agents, cruise lines, and online booking companies to complete third-party reservations.

    • Be knowledgeable about all tours offered by Denali Park Adventures (Denali ATV Adventures, Denali Park Zipline, Denali Jeep Excursions, and Denali Toy Rentals), and familiarize yourself with additional tours and activities in the Denali area that Denali Park Adventures books or promotes as a third-party reseller; assist with customer reservations and respond accurately to all guest inquiries.

    • Help prepare guests for their tour by ensuring all guests meet participant requirements and tactfully handle situations where guests do not meet requirements.

    • Solve problems that invariably arise with logistics, tour coordination, large group booking, rescheduling, and customer service issues.

    • Effectively communicate with Shuttle Drivers and Tour Managers to convey reservation changes and address any additional needs of the guests.

    • Review reservations and tour manifests for accuracy.

    • Work as a team with other Adventure Experts, leaving correct and complete information for those who work opposite shifts.

    • Assist with facility upkeep and maintenance including cleaning and organizing.

    • You may be required to help transport guests to the tour launch location. This means being able to engage with people outside of the office setting.

    • The workday starts at 6:30am and goes to 9:30pm or later during peak season. Tour Headquarters and Office hours will flex with the season’s demands as will work shifts.

    • In order to stay current on the actual tour experience, routine participation on Denali Park Adventures’ tours is required.

    • Be comfortable with, or prepared for, the unique challenges of living and working in a remote location.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school degree or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.

    • Position uses company vehicles, so clean driving history and motor vehicle record is needed.

    Tour Office and Reservations Manager

    At Denali Park Adventures, great teams start with great leadership. The Tour Office and Reservations Manager, also known as the Headquarters Manager on Duty (HQ MOD) is responsible for encouraging and supporting the Adventure Experts towards creating a focused, friendly, task-oriented, customer service driven team. Major components of the Tour Office and Reservations Manager position include direct correspondence with Travel Agents and Cruise Lines to arrange the sale and scheduling of tours, oversight of payment, understanding and organization of company logistics, and involvement in management meetings. The Tour Office and Reservations Manager is able to be a respectful and supportive leader, delegate tasks, structure the tour schedule with respect to the whole company needs, remain calm and resolute during crisis, and be responsible for the direction and team efforts of the Adventure Experts. Tour Office and Reservations Managers will work as a team to foster smooth operations at the Tour Headquarters and Offices throughout the Denali Park Adventures summer season. Tour Office and Reservations Managers report to the Denali Administrative Manager.

      • Participate in pre-season Management Orientation and Training.

      • Verify accuracy of transactions and collection of all partner vouchers through careful auditing practices

      • Understand company logistics to effectively communicate with Shuttle Drivers and Tour Managers

    Equal parts performer, educator, and outdoor enthusiast, the Denali ATV Adventure Guide requires big personalities, a thirst for curiosity, and a lifestyle spent saturated in nature.  Denali ATV Adventure Guides are tasked with connecting our guests to the rugged backcountry of the Denali area and all the majesty that accompanies it.  Our tours cut through the stampede corridor, an area speckled in mountainous landscapes, twisting trails through aspen groves, and river crossings.  The main traits you’ll need to be a Denali ATV Adventure Guide are an outgoing and amiable disposition, an active interest in Alaska, and a passion for bringing people memorable experiences.  If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Directly engage with guests for the entire shift.

    • Required to lead guests into the wilderness and through our trail systems by safely navigating the terrain and obstacles.  Help novice drivers understand how to operate an ATV.

    • Required to speak in front of large groups of guests, informing them on the sights they are seeing and entertaining them.  The ability to hold a conversation with a stranger for several minutes is a crucial aspect of this position. 

    • Speak knowledgeably about the area, providing facts and answers to guest’s questions.  We will provide you with a foundation of knowledge, but it is imperative that you show a curiosity and interest in continuing to learn about Alaska.  The more you know, the more confident you can be as a leader on tour.

    • Sometimes be required to make difficult judgment calls for the safety of our guests.  This can include switching guests to an alternate unit, recognizing trail conditions and adapting quickly, and being mindful of the tour pacing.

    • The workday goes from 8 am until midnight during our busy season and include “on call” shifts.

    • You will be dirty and wet on the job more often than not.  The position requires you to be comfortable and prepared for all weather, including rain, snow, fog, thunderstorms, the byproducts of wildfires, as well as sunshine.  It is important that you understand what it takes to work in these conditions, as weather is a constant factor in our work.

    • Basic understanding of the mechanical aspects of the ATVs is required, in order to help point out maintenance needs as they occur.

    • This job requires First Aid and CPR certifications.  You are not required to be a first responder, but you will need to be able to keep a level head during emergency medical situations.

    • Daily list of duties will include power washing, drying, fueling, and parking ATVs.  Additionally, you will be required to clean helmets, goggles and gloves.

    • Required to perform trail maintenance.  This is manual labor with tools such as pickaxes, shovels, and rakes.

    • Flexible with your schedule and take things in stride, especially during the peak season. Overtime, private tours, and long work weeks may be necessary.

    • Most importantly it is your job to keep our guest safe and happy.  Being a good presenter, being engaging, excited, and knowledgeable is what makes you thrive here.  We expect that your enthusiasm stays consistent throughout the summer.  Your excitement is contagious to our visitors.

    We are looking for good spirited, safe, and knowledgeable CDL drivers to transport our guests, all while priming them for the adventure they are about to experience! We believe our tour starts with the first person our guests meet – that’s the Denali ATV Adventures Driver Guide. Your daily office is the beautiful drive on the Parks Highway that winds through a canyon carved by the mighty Nenana River and is flanked by the Alaska Range and Denali National Park. This position requires focus on timing, adapting to pick-up changes, and last-minute adjustments, all while entertaining and engaging guests. Don’t forget to get our guests home with humor, excellent customer service, and a memorable smile!     Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Ability to drive safely and responsibly for 8 hours a day, with the majority of the time spent with guests. The foundation of our business is providing an experience where safety is prioritized.

    • Transport guests to and from our ATV site and their pickup locations.

    • Make sure all guests listed on manifest are accounted for and on the bus. If there are changes, quickly and effectively communicate the updates.

    • Be in constant communication with Tour Reps and Tour Managers via phone and text.

    • Knowledge about our tours and the trail area is crucial to your performance. Guests will ask questions, so your understanding of our product and the area is a necessity.

    • Required to perform walk-around and pre-trip inspection sheet.

    • Required to clean the inside and outside of your shuttle during and at the end of your shift.

    • It will be your responsibility to monitor and maintain your fuel level and report any maintenance concerns to the mechanics.

    • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting Participation agreements and paperwork, transporting staff, courier duties, and light tour sales.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Positive attitude while working in ALL weather conditions and with all personalities.

    • Strong communication skills and even better people skills.

    • Ability to think calmly and critically in high-stress situations.

    • Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work a mix of morning and evening tours.

    • Must be willing and able to assist in maintenance as needed.

    • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement.

    Are you interested in spending the summer in Alaska but like to be behind the scenes?  Maybe you grew up working on cars, dirt bikes, and ATVs and want to further your knowledge on the subject?  Denali might be the opportunity for you to do just that.  Fleet mechanics are a cornerstone position in helping us have a successful summer at Denali Park Adventures, as they are the driving force behind keeping our machines healthy so our guests can stay happy!  With a fleet pushing 100 vehicles, and a multi-tiered pay scale there is a lot of room for growth in the company and plenty to do to keep you busy, so if you love working with your hands, and on engines, but want to do it in a beautiful place we might be just what you’re looking for.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    • Daily routine machine checks including tire pressure, oil checks, air filters.

    • Cleaning air filters

    • Oil changes

    • Tire Patching, Changing and Balancing

    • On trail machine support and recovery

    • Machine power washing

    • Loading and unloading fleet machines on trailers

    • Routine maintenance for new model Jeep Wranglers, and Shuttle Vehicles including tire rotations, oil changes, patching chipped windshields, battery testing, etc.

    • Logging shop inventory

    • Working in conjunction with company GMs to plan required projects

    • Checking in and out ATV rental fleet

    • Pre and Post Season assistance with de-winterization and winterization of machines

    Required Qualifications

    • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 2-5 years’ experience working in an automotive and/or ATV shop

    • Experience working in seasonal tourism/ communal housing setting is a major plus

    As a Denali ATV Assistant Tour Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all aspects of daily ATV tour operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. In this role, you will oversee tour flow, monitor trail conditions, and manage the guide team to maintain a consistently high-quality guest experience. You’ll also play a direct role in guest service, occasionally stepping in to guide tours when needed or assisting with on-trail support during busy periods. The Tour Managers work hand in hand with the Operations Managers and other department leaders to coordinate tour schedules, address day-to-day challenges, and ensure communication between teams remains clear and effective. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced outdoor environment. As a Tour Manager, you are a key influence on the guest journey and the performance of the guide team.
