As an Adventure Engineer™ (AE), you aren't just an event host—you engineer memorable experiences and build community for our club! You’ll use your passion for the outdoors to lead and co-create unique events for our active member community. More important is that we do not run like a tour operator, you get to know the members and they become family and friends. The excursions we choose to lead are different every month, so you need to come with amazing ideas, and some great experiences to share.
Key Responsibilities:
Independent self starter: For example we have a CUA for Yosemite but Have not even started recurring public facing experiences. Ideally our AE would take 100% ownership of this or other revenue producing plans
Host & Guide Events: Lead single-day adventures (hikes, kayaking, city socials) and multi-day outdoor trips (Tahoe ski weekends, Yosemite backpacking, Death Valley campouts)
Event Creation & Planning: Help brainstorm, design, and market new event series aligned with your personal outdoor interests
Day-of Execution: Manage gear loading/staging, grocery shopping, vendor coordination, and member communication on-site and via social channels
Community Engagement: Deliver unexpected delight, foster social connections among members, and maintain regular communication with our host management team
---

Experience & Lifestyle: Proven background hosting or leading outdoor groups/events, an active lifestyle, and strong local knowledge of Northern California
Transportation: Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and from event locations
Personal Traits: Adventurous, charismatic, highly organized, proactive, and energetic leader who thrives in dynamic group settings
Schedule Commitment: Ability to commit to a minimum of 18 shifts per month (0–5 hours per shift) for at least 3 consecutive months
Bonus Certifications (Preferred): First Aid, CPR, Wilderness First Responder/Aid, Lifeguard, or guide/instruction certifications

Compensation & Pay Structure
Flat-Rate Event Pay Examples: Quite often "hourly pay is not logical, so we often pay by "shift" Transparent examples of pay per event set upfront (e.g., ~$100 for a day hike, ~$180 for daytrip kayaking, ~$540 for a Tahoe weekend, ~$800 for Death Valley)
Bonus options: Eventual Profit-sharing bonuses on unique events you design and execute from start to finish
Reimbursements: Travel/gas included in event pay, food & beverage allowance for social events, plus full reimbursement for approved event supplies and out-of-pocket costs
