Cathedral Ridge is the Episcopal camp and retreat center for Colorado, set in the mountains outside Woodland Park. We provide a sanctuary and a stimulating environment where people connect meaningfully and are transformed through relationship with God and one another. Guests range from a dozen people on a quiet retreat weekend to a full summer camp in July, and the kitchen is where they feel our hospitality most.

We are looking for a hands-on Head Chef who loves cooking for groups, keeps a clean and safe kitchen, and can adapt when numbers and needs change at short notice.

What you'll do

  • Plan menus with the Director: simple, healthy, buffet-style food that suits the group and the season

  • Cook and serve every meal on the schedule, on time, with consistent quality for 12 guests or a full camp

  • Shop for the food and supplies each group needs, within the food budget, balancing waste against running short

  • Honor every documented allergy and dietary need, from the shopping list to the serving line

  • Keep the kitchen, storage and dining hall clean, organized and inspection-ready, meeting health code and licensing requirements

  • Lead and train the kitchen team on shift, much of it seasonal and student help

  • Code and submit receipts promptly, and flag equipment or supply needs early

  • Meet weekly with the Director to plan the week ahead; guest counts and special requests come through the Director

The year at a glance

  • February to May: weekend retreats and some midweek groups

  • June to July: weekday family camps and youth camps, our busiest season

  • August to November: weekend retreats and conference groups

  • December to January: closed or very light; deep cleaning, equipment servicing and planning

What we're looking for

  • Experience cooking for groups: camp, retreat center, school, restaurant or another high-volume kitchen

  • Food safety manager certification (ServSafe or equivalent), or able to obtain it within 90 days of hire

  • Working knowledge of health code and safe food handling in a commercial kitchen

  • Confidence cooking around allergies and dietary restrictions

  • Comfortable directing a small team

  • Valid driver's license for shopping runs, and able to drive safely in mountain weather

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods

  • Preferred: camp, retreat or ministry hospitality experience; buying food to a budget; inventory and food cost tracking

Pay and benefits

  • $22.00 per hour, full time, year-round, hourly (non-exempt)

  • Overtime paid under Colorado law

  • Medical and dental insurance, and a pension

  • Meals in the dining hall when food is available

  • On-site housing may be available

  • Schedule includes weekends and longer hours during the summer camp season

  • A background check is required
