About Camp IHC
Camp IHC is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania. A spectacular, natural setting provides the stage for the adventure of a lifetime. As a counselor, you will have an opportunity to work with children from ages 7-16.
Today, more than ever, children need a safe place to stretch their wings so they can experience the best that life has to offer. This is a place where learning and social development take place in a nurturing environment under the watchful eyes of caring adults.
A place that removes the distraction of technology, cell phones, and the internet for seven weeks. The IHC community is one where children and adults respect each other and the environment in which we live.
The Employee Experience
Employees at Camp IHC are integrated into the daily lives of our campers. During our time at IHC, which will fly by, we eat, sleep and teach in a residential setting. Through the immersion into the life of a counselor at IHC, one helps guide our campers in social interaction and develop new skills and refining old ones.
While working at camp you will meet staff from around the world who share similar interests to you and those who differ but share one main goal. They want to create a place where campers and staff leave stronger than they came. It is not an easy job, but at Indian Head, we believe that through the challenges come great growth and learning. If you want a challenge and love working with kids, sign up with us today.
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidates are open to learning, excited to make new connections, and willing to learn from others. They look forward to a day with challenges and adventure. They want to make a difference in children's lives.
Room and Board
Housing is Bunk style living with the campers. The average is 12 Campers and 3 Staff to a bunk.
Employee Perks
While at camp food and housing are included. A staff lounge has computers and free wifi to keep you connected, not to mention locally roasted coffee from Moka (check it out). Basketball Coach
Basketball is everywhere at Camp IHC. Everyday you can hear the thump of the ball or the squeak of sneakers on courts. Whether it’s a pick-up game on the bunkline, a scheduled game on one of our many courts, or the solitary dedicated baller shooting hoops--there is always a ball in play.
At Camp IHC basketball coaches will teach around five to six periods a day. You’ll run classes with campers from 6-16 years old with a variety of abilities. There will also be opportunities to coach specialized classes to more advanced basketball players. You’ll referee competitive games, coach IHC teams against other camps in tournaments and help campers gain a better understanding of the sport.
Basketball is one of the “classics” at camp. Our Camp Director Joel Rutkowski even started his IHC journey as a basketball coach back in the 90s!
Being a basketball coach is an incredibly rewarding job, but it’s not an easy job. You’ll have groups of campers with different abilities in the same class or campers who just aren’t into it that day, so at times it will challenge you. But you will love it and you will get to see your hard work pay off when you see your campers hit game winning shots, or learn a crossover for the first time.
At the end of the summer your coaching and leadership skills will become more defined and polished.
At Camp IHC you’ll be a role model both on and off the court to our campers. They will look up to you in so many ways and as cliche as it sounds, they will 100% have an impact on you too.
Camp IHC is located in northeastern PA. We are a residential camp that hosts a 8 week experience for campers aging from 7 -16 years of age.
At Camp IHC you will be:
… a part of a high energy and highly spirited staff where the individual is the priority.
…able to unplug from the TV, IPOD and other noises of society for a while and have fun in the outdoors, where people and nature are your influences.
…in an accepting environment leading to a lifetime of memories.
… a member of a large family, where counselors value their relationships with their campers and co-workers.
