About Camp Androscoggin
Our campers are with us for one 7 week session and participate in a wide range of team sports and individual activities on the land and water. Each counselor is a cabin counselor and acticity specialist.
With all campers and counselors living and playing on one campus, Androscoggin is a close-knit community in which everyone gets to know everyone else in a surprisingly short period of time. Starting with an eight day orientation to help ensure staff feel acclimated and prepared for the boys' arrival.
We feel that the chance to be outside, work with children and spend the summer with peole from around the country and the world is rewarding, impactful and so much fun, and we can't wait to make it happen again.
We hope you'd like to be a part of it and would look forward to hearing from you.
The Employee Experience
Every summer, we strive to create an environment in which every camper can improve their skills, gain an increased sense of independence and self-esteem and form strong and lasting friendships. Camp offers a setting where campers can learn and grow and have a great time in the process.
We also believe it offers staff members a unique opportunity to teach an activity they love, be mentors and role models and make a lasting impact, all while gaining valuable leadership and communications skills.
Ideal Candidate
In addition to being an activity specialist, each counselor has responsibility for a bunk with 5 or 6 boys. Our male staff live in the cabins with the boys, and our female staff are assigned to help supervise a bunk. The bunk is everyone's home away from home for the summer, and the rapport a camper develops with his bunk counselors is one of the key ingredients in the success of the summer - for both camper and staff.
Room and Board
Room and board is included. Meals will be a combination of buffet and family style. Snacks are also provided throughout the day.
Employee Perks
Competitive salary, starting at $3000. In addition, we cover travel expenses to and from Maine. Laundry and wifi is included as well.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Staff members are welcome to bring their own cars. The nearest bus station is Augusta, 20 minutes form camp ; the nearest major airport is Portland, an hour away. We will pick up staff members at either location. Many staff fly into Boston's Logan airport. From Logan, there are a couple of easy options to get to either Portland or Augusta where a camp representative will be available for a pick up.
For Fun
We encourage staff to use our facilities and equipment during their off-duty time. A great opportuntiy to return to a favorite activity you haven't had a chance to do in a while or try something for the first time.
We also provide drivers and vehicles for time off.
