About the Role

 The General Manager / Operations Manager owns the full business of Boundary Expeditions. This

person runs sales, guest experience, river operations, the guide team, finances, and the BE property, and

leads trips on the water.

Boundary is coming off its most successful season to date, with a pro guide team, established systems,

healthy revenue, and a solid brand in place. The next GM will protect that standard and grow it: every

guest should leave having had the trip of a lifetime, and every season should leave the company

stronger than the last.

Key Responsibilities

Sales, Marketing, and Brand

• Serve as the primary sales contact, following up on inbound inquiries

• Track leads on CRM and log closed sales for invoicing

• Work with accounting to make sure every guest is invoiced

• Design, edit, and share trip marketing materials and invite flyers

• Supply photos and assets for all advertising, and approve ad designs for media and social

• Post consistently on Facebook and Instagram, and curate the Boundary brand image and style

Guest Communications

• Act as the primary contact for every registered guest

• Plan trip logistics and charter trip orientation meetings

• Answer guest questions and resolve date conflicts, pricing concerns, and similar issues

• Design and draft the full Campaign Monitor email series: Welcome, Trip Prep, Logistics, How to

Pack, Pre Trip, and Post Trip

Operations

• Build the season schedule for guides, drivers, flights, Flying B lunches, and the wellness

coordinator

• Coordinate weekly logistics with drivers, Gem Air, hotels, and Flying B• Handle weekly trip prep: recreation.gov reservations, camp selection, permits, manifests, and

pack lists

• Lead pre trip and post trip meetings, distribute gratuity, and enter payroll

• Take, edit, and upload river photos to Drive, and make sure miscellaneous guest invoices are

entered correctly

• Handle annual insurance, licensing, and Forest Service use reporting

• Maintain and organize Google Drive and Dropbox

• Maintain all gear, equipment, and vehicles

• Manage retail product, inventory, and POS sales

• Drive the guest bus when needed (CDL required)

Team Leadership

• Hire, manage, and train experienced crew

• Set the vision, professional standard, and team culture

• Handle team HR issues, act as liaison to the HR team, and document injuries and complaints

Trip Leading

• Lead the guide team and guests safely and competently in the backcountry, setting the tone for

a trip of a lifetime

• Run daily guide team meetings

• Deliver daily guest briefings, assign guest boats, and plan special activities

Finance and Property

• Own revenue, expenses, the annual budget, and year end reporting

• Oversee vendor accounts (gas stations, grocer, and others) and supplier accounts (gear,

equipment, retail, guide pro deals)

• Oversee BE property upkeep and maintain strong neighbor and community relationships

Qualifications

Required

• Several years of multiday river guiding and trip leading experience in a backcountry setting

• Proven experience managing a team, a budget, and day to day business operations

• Current Wilderness First Responder (or higher) and CPR certification

• Valid CDL, or the ability to obtain one before the season

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with guests, staff, vendors, and partners

• Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to manage many moving parts during peak season

• Comfortable with sales, customer service, and handling sensitive guest or staff issues

Preferred

• Experience on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River or with Forest Service permitted operations

• Familiarity with recreation.gov permitting and use reporting

• Photography, graphic design, or social media skills• Mechanical ability to maintain gear, trailers, and vehicles

• Type: Full time, year round, with extended days and time on the river during the season

• Location: Boundary Expeditions boathouse (Salmon, ID) and the Middle Fork of the Salmon

River
