About Borealis Basecamp
Borealis Basecamp is a one-of-a-kind northern lights adventure resort located just 45 minutes north of Fairbanks, Alaska. Our signature sky-view igloos and cube-shaped accommodations give guests an unforgettable front-row seat to the aurora from the comfort of their room. As part of Stellar Collection, a family of leading Alaska travel and tourism companies, we are united by a shared mission: creating lifelong memories through extraordinary guest experiences. We’re passionate about showcasing the wonder of Alaska and are looking for fun, energetic, and dedicated team members who are excited to help create moments our guests will remember and talk about for years to come.
Every day is different—and sometimes challenging—but always memorable. You could be helping guests gear up for a thrilling dog sled ride or snowmobile tour, sharing your love of the aurora, or helping someone capture the perfect photo. Reindeer walks and amazing excursions are just the beginning. Every activity is a chance to create memories that last a lifetime and every team member plays a key role.
We have opportunities across multiple departments where you can make an impact. Housekeepers keep rooms spotless, servers make every meal unforgettable, guides lead epic adventures, and front desk agents make every guest feel at home. Every role matters and every person helps bring the Borealis Basecamp experience to life.
Our team is close-knit, supportive, and full of energy. We work hard, have fun, and celebrate every success whether it is a guest seeing the Northern Lights for the first time, a flawless dinner service, or keeping Basecamp running smoothly. If you love adventure, meeting amazing people from around the world, learning new skills, and being part of a team that makes magic every day, Borealis Basecamp is the place for you.
This is not a vacation job—it’s real work in a remote, cold, and fast-moving environment. But for the right person, it’s unforgettable. Join us and make this season an lifetime memory for our guests and for yourself.
The Employee Experience
Working at Borealis Basecamp means living somewhere most people only ever visit once in a lifetime. Out here in the Alaskan frontier, your everyday surroundings are wide-open wilderness, quiet beauty, and a front-row seat to the Northern Lights.
Aurora viewing becomes part of your routine, not just a special occasion. Stepping outside to catch the lights, hopping on a snowmachine, or heading out on a dog sled ride can all be part of a normal day. You’ll experience Alaska’s unique rhythm too—long, dark nights perfect for aurora viewing and extended twilight hours that seem to last forever. It’s immersive, unplugged, a little wild, and completely unforgettable.
Every day feels different, and you’re not just around the adventure—you’re part of it. Whether you're helping create guest experiences or jumping into activities yourself, no two days really feel the same.
Living and working here also means becoming part of a close-knit community. Shared experiences, big laughs, and once-in-a-lifetime moments come with the territory.
It’s more than just a job—it’s a story you’ll be telling for the rest of your life.
Ideal Candidate
Borealis Basecamp is not for everyone and that’s what makes it special. The ideal candidate is adventurous, self-motivated, and excited about living and working in a remote Alaskan environment. This is a place for people who seek experiences, not distractions. This role requires long days, working in cold conditions, and staying adaptable when plans change quickly.
Our best team members are “aurora chasers” at heart, people who will step outside at 2:00 am to catch the Northern Lights, who enjoy being unplugged from the noise, and who find energy in nature, not nightlife. If you rely heavily on constant Wi-Fi, city life, or a busy social scene, this may not be the right fit.
Instead, we’re looking for individuals who are dependable, positive, and ready to be part of a hardworking, close-knit team where everyone contributes.
Room and Board
Employee housing is available on site and is primarily double or triple occupancy, with limited availability for single or couple housing. Housing assignments are based on availability and operational needs.
The cost for employee housing is $10.50 per day, which includes room and board for double‑occupancy accommodations.
Breakfast is provided daily and consists of grab‑and‑go options such as cereal, breakfast bars, yogurt, and similar items.
Lunch and dinner are prepared by our on‑site staff chefs and are intended to be warm, hearty meals designed to sustain staff during long shifts and cold winter conditions. Meals typically include a rotating selection of proteins, vegetables, starches, and soups.
We make a good‑faith effort to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies; however, due to our remote location and limited supply chain, we cannot guarantee that all dietary needs can be met at all times.
