Our Captain position is a well rounded part of our team whose goal is to guide our guests on our various adventures and provide a safe, educational, and unforgettably fun experience in Biscayne National Park. Our captains run trips that include snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and sightseeing. These trips vary in size from small group max 6 passenger boats to our larger 16-35 passenger groups on our USCG inspected vessels. The Captain's primary responsibilities include safety of your guests on our offered adventures, brief snorkel sites and help guests with gear and how to get the most out of their snorkel experience, guiding on paddle crafts deployed from your boat into mangrove environments, learning local knowledge to safely navigate our shallow water ways and coral reef system, general boat maintenance and cleaning, and interpretive talks that inspire and help guests understand and appreciate Biscayne National Park.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have USCG Captain's License,
Near Coastal USCG Master Captain's License 25 tons or higher is needed to run all of our trips but we are accepting USCG 6pax Captain's Licenses and Inland USCG Master Captains
Be comfortable and knowledgable with VHS communications
Experience with naturalist interpretation or environmental education in the field or informal presentations for groups.
Expertise in customer service and problem solving skills
Enjoy working in a team environment in outdoor settings
Enjoy working in various weather conditions and feel confident with monitoring weather conditions.
Be available to work weekends and holidays
Be able to work 9 hour days
Be able to lift 50 pounds.
Be a strong and confident swimmer
Be able to complete our safety courses for CPR and Diver's First Aid
Must be able to pass a drug test and agree to USCG regulated randomized drug testing while employed with us.
Knowledge of boat mechanics and experience with fixing and maintaining boat mechanics is a bonus.
