Bighorn Trout Shop is a fly shop and Lodge located in Fort Smith, MT, home to world class fly fishing on the Bighorn River. Bighorn Trout Shop specializes in providing anglers with the finest fly fishing guides, lodging, and meals in the area.

Meals are a cornerstone of the guest experience at the Bighorn Trout Shop. As such, we are seeking a Seasonal Full Time Cook that has a passion for producing quality meals at an all-inclusive fly fishing lodge in rural Montana.

The Role

As a cook at the Bighorn Trout Shop you will execute a three course dinner service and prepare boat lunches to be served by the guides on the river the following day, 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• The lodge offers dinner service at a set time each night for up to 40 guests. Patrons are offered one meal option per night, consideration is given based on dietary requirements. Your job will be to consistently produce quality meals, on time and in a caring manner.

• Lunch consists of a sandwich, chips, rotating salad, snack and dessert that you will prepare and package into an individual bag for each guest.

• The kitchen is yours to own during your shift — cleanliness, order, efficiency, and the standard of the food you prepare are based on the care you put into your work.

• Manage exceptional standards of cleanliness, food safety and presentation

• Coordinate with lodge management regarding guest schedules and meal timing and special guest requests

• Work well within a team environment. You will interact daily with the Kitchen Manager, fly shop staff, lunch prep members, dishwashers and servers.

• The Bighorn Trout Shop has a clientele that has been coming to the lodge annually for up to 40 years. At times, you will engage with guests to coordinate future dining services and maintain a high level of customer service when accommodating return guests or VIP guests.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a commercial kitchen - lodge, or restaurant preferred

• Independently execute your role at a high level, within the hospitality program that has worked well at the Bighorn Trout Shop for over 40 years.

• Provide excellent customer service to guests of the Bighorn Trout Shop

• Available to work the duration of our season from April 1 to October 31 and is comfortable living in a rural setting

Compensation:

• Salary of $3200 per month

• Percentage of nightly tips, split between staff per shift

• Housing provided in compensation

• Meals provided while on shift
