We’re looking for an experienced, personable General Manager to take true ownership of the day-to-day operations at Beyul Retreat.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who knows how to run a complex hospitality business, lead a great team, make smart decisions, and keep both the guest experience and the business moving forward. You’ll oversee lodging, events, food and beverage, property operations, staffing, financial performance, and systems.
Beyul is not a traditional hotel, and we do not want it to become one. We’re looking for someone who can bring structure, accountability, and strong leadership while preserving the warmth, creativity, personality, and sense of community that make Beyul special.
If you’ve ever dreamed of running or creating a retreat center of your own, this is a unique opportunity to step inside one, help shape it, and see every part of the business in action.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Guest Experience
Oversee the successful day-to-day operation of lodging, housekeeping, food and beverage, events, front-of-house, guest communications, sales, and property operations.
Maintain high standards for hospitality, cleanliness, food and beverage, property presentation, events, amenities, and overall guest experience.
Anticipate operational needs, solve problems proactively, and ensure the property is prepared for retreats, weddings, busy weekends, holidays, and seasonal transitions.
Oversee InnRoad, Retreat Guru, guest communication tools, lodging inventory, nightly minimums, and other operational systems.
Step into escalated guest issues, refunds, and service recovery when needed.
Oversee the Mercantile and Bodega, including purchasing and inventory.
Develop and continuously improve SOPs, systems, and processes across the property.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, partners, and other operational stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Human Resources
Serve as the primary leader of Beyul's year-round and seasonal team.
Lead managers and department heads with clear expectations, accountability, trust, and consistent communication.
Build strong managers and delegate effectively rather than becoming the bottleneck for every decision.
Oversee staffing plans and scheduling based on occupancy, events, seasonality, PTO, and labor budgets.
Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, corrective action, and offboarding.
Oversee biweekly payroll, timekeeping, tip distribution, PTO and vacation approvals, benefits, employee documentation, and seasonal employee housing.
Address employee conflict and interpersonal challenges directly, fairly, and with emotional intelligence.
Build a workplace culture where people feel supported, know what is expected of them, and are held accountable for doing excellent work.
Financial & Business Performance
Develop and manage annual operating budgets in partnership with ownership.
Review financial performance and understand the drivers behind revenue, labor, cost of goods, expenses, and profitability.
Manage labor, purchasing, and departmental spending against budget.
Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments and setup, payroll review, Bill.com, Divvy, and other administrative systems.
Oversee month-end operating processes including night audit, revenue reconciliation, and preparation for close.
Track event deposits and payments, ensure they are accurately recorded in Retreat Guru and financial systems, and oversee post-event billing, refunds, and reconciliation.
Maintain visibility into cash flow, forecasts, occupancy, and upcoming business needs.
Work with RevMax or similar revenue-management tools to support pricing and occupancy strategy.
Identify opportunities to grow revenue, improve margins, control costs, and strengthen the overall health of the business.
Regularly communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to ownership.
Events, Retreats & Sales
Maintain visibility into the event and group pipeline, booking pace, contracts, deposits, timelines, and upcoming operational needs.
Work closely with event producers and department leaders to ensure strong coordination between sales, events, lodging, food and beverage, and property teams.
Ensure event documentation, payments, rooming information, schedules, and internal handoffs are accurate and complete.
Support successful execution of weddings, corporate retreats, wellness retreats, workshops, residencies, and other gatherings.
Step into important client conversations when needed to resolve issues, strengthen relationships, or support significant business.
Identify opportunities to improve conversion, repeat business, referrals, pricing, packages, and group revenue.
Community & Property Relationships
Serve as a thoughtful and professional liaison between Beyul and the Meredith community.
Maintain strong relationships with neighbors and respond proactively to questions or concerns.
Participate in community caucus meetings and other relevant local meetings.
Maintain awareness of property activity that may affect neighbors, including events, traffic, sound, construction, and other operational impacts.
Support compliance with permits, land-use requirements, and commitments made to local agencies and the community.
Represent Beyul as a responsible local business, employer, neighbor, and community partner.
Compensation & Benefits
$85,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience. This is an exempt, salaried position.
Onsite or nearby housing provided, valued at approximately $1,200 per month.
Paid time off.
Access to Beyul's wellness and property amenities.
Retreat and programming access where appropriate.
Additional benefits may be included based on the final compensation package.
The opportunity to lead and help shape a unique independent hospitality property in one of Colorado's most beautiful mountain environments.
