We are seeking a hardworking and motivated individual to work as a housekeeper at our lodge for the summer season. Our housekeepers keep our cabins and employee lounge sparkling, our breakfast nook stocked, and fill in as backup shuttle drivers. If you love the outdoors and working in a team environment, Drifters Lodge is the place for you this summer!

Room and board is available to employees or a nominal monthly fee. In addition, Drifters employees have many other perks including comped fishing, rafting, hiking, wildlife viewing and much more on the Kenai Peninsula.

What we look for in an employee:

The busy season in Alaska is only a few months long, so there is a lot packed into a short time frame. This means that rooms and cabins at Drifters Lodge will be full every night. We look for hard workers and self starters to get the job done without constant supervision. Attention to detail, a good attitude, being flexible, and being charismatic for our customers is essential. There may be times when we need your help in other areas of the lodge such as shuttle driving and local errands. We count on our employees to rise to the occasion with enthusiasm! Our work schedule is 6 days/week with one day off. 

Job Duties:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning guest rooms by stripping and making the beds, gathering and emptying trashes, cleaning mirrors, dusting furniture and fixtures, doing dishes, cleaning the kitchens, cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming and mopping.
  • Replenishing guest rooms with amenities, supplies, and linens as they are needed.
  • Inspect rooms for fixtures that are not working properly and make small repairs such as replacing batteries and light bulbs. Report major repairs and maintenance issues that are needed to supervisor.
  • Maintain Breakfast Nook by setting food out, putting it away, cleaning, doing dishes, replenishing inventory and communicating items that need reordering to supervisor. This involves early mornings (5:30am) when on breakfast nook shift. Shifts rotate weekly.
  • Maintain Swedish Sauna by making sure linens are stocked, area is clean, and water is filled.
  • Compete all laundry everyday by washing, folding, and putting away. Maintain high standards of quality by checking daily for stains or tears and replacing as needed.
  • Clean shared employee lounge, kitchen, and bathrooms daily.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor, such as client pick up/drop off, shuttle driving, landscaping, and food preparation. When it is busy jobs often cross over to ensure that all needed tasks are complete
  • Must be courteous and respectful to all guests and address their individual needs by fulfilling requests or communicating requests to the supervisor. Guests are of the highest importance and must be treated as such.
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours straight, and perform strenuous tasks such as lifting 30lbs, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Must be able to work directly under a supervisor, be courteous and respectful to coworkers, and be self-motivated.
