Salary: $18.00 per hour + bonus potential
Location: Icy Strait Point, Hoonah, Alaska

As a Care Cart Driver at Icy Strait Point, you’ll help guests navigate our beautiful Alaska destination while creating a welcoming, comfortable, and memorable experience. You’ll prioritize guests with mobility needs, safely transport visitors around the property, answer questions, and serve as one of the friendly faces that makes their Alaska adventure special.

Whether you’re helping guests reach an excursion, welcoming cruise visitors, or sharing what makes Icy Strait Point unique, you’ll play an important role in making our destination accessible and enjoyable for everyone.


🛺 WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Put Guests First: Prioritize transportation for guests with mobility challenges and others who need assistance getting around Icy Strait Point.

  • Drive Safely: Transport cruise and non-cruise guests to designated locations throughout the property while following established routes and safety procedures.

  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Provide friendly, professional, and helpful service to every guest you encounter.

  • Respond to Transportation Requests: Answer transportation calls promptly, remember established Care Cart routes, and help keep guest transportation running smoothly.

  • Share Local Information: Answer questions and provide general information about Icy Strait Point, its attractions, and available experiences.

  • Welcome Our Guests: Assist with guest greetings, orientations, ticket collection, and safe passenger loading.

  • Promote the Destination: Recommend other Icy Strait Point venues, distribute informational materials, and sell merchandise when appropriate.

  • Support Your Team: Attend required training and assist other programs and departments whenever additional help is needed.

  • Follow BAP: Conduct daily activities in accordance with Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic, Profitable.

  • Stay Flexible: Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations and guest satisfaction.


🎯 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You don’t have to know everything about Icy Strait Point when you start. We’ll help you learn what you need to know. What matters most is bringing a positive attitude, a commitment to safety, and a genuine desire to help others.

You’ll be a strong fit if you have:

  • A valid driver's license.

  • Previous guest service experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Tlingit culture or a willingness to learn and respectfully share cultural information with guests.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally, accurately, and warmly with guests and coworkers.

  • The ability to learn, remember, and confidently communicate general information about Icy Strait Point.

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or a willingness to become certified.

  • A Driver for Hire card preferred.

  • Age 25 or older preferred.

💪 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Spend extended periods sitting while operating a Care Cart, with additional time walking and interacting with guests.

  • Drive and walk on gravel roads, including during inclement weather.

  • Work outdoors in changing Alaska weather conditions.

  • Meet the Care Cart vehicle’s applicable maximum weight guidelines.

  • Be able to lift and carry 50+ pounds when required.

  • Be prepared for extended working hours during the peak season, with limited time off.

  • Be comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from this remote Alaska destination.
