🌲 LEAD THE ADVENTURE. SHARE ALASKA.

Spend your summer surrounded by mountains, forests, wildlife, and the waters of Southeast Alaska while meeting guests from around the world.

As a Tour Guide at Icy Strait Point, you’ll lead guests on unforgettable excursions while sharing stories about the scenery, wildlife, history, geography, and Tlingit culture of the area.

You’ll be cross-trained on multiple Icy Strait Point tours, giving you the opportunity to experience something different throughout the season.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and provide narration for Icy Strait Point excursions

  • Share information about Alaska’s wildlife, plants, scenery, history, and geography

  • Cross-train on multiple tours and programs

  • Potentially guide Jeep, ATV, wildlife, bird-watching, mountain forest, and ZipRider experiences

  • Welcome guests and conduct tour orientations

  • Prioritize guest safety throughout every excursion

  • Learn and present a Tlingit Introduction

  • Learn required songs and stories for the Kayak Tour when assigned

  • Learn, retain, and accurately present excursion information

  • Promote other Icy Strait Point experiences

  • Support other programs and departments when needed


🌟 WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Friendly, confident communicator

  • Comfortable leading groups of children and adults

  • Knowledge of—or willingness to learn about—Tlingit culture and the local environment

  • Interest in Alaska’s marine life, plants, animals, and birds

  • Strong commitment to guest safety

  • Able to learn and confidently share information

  • Able to lift 25+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and walk 5+ miles

  • Some tours require guides to be 18+

  • Safety-sensitive position subject to drug testing

  • Comfortable living and working in a remote Alaska community
