Camp Counselors are responsible for creating high-quality programs for small groups of children between the ages of 5 and 14. They are also expected to keep the children safe in an outdoor environment and make sound decisions with the help of a co-counselor.

  • Experience working with children required
  • Ability to plan, lead, organize, and implement program activities
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading English
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, swimming, team building activities, campfires, skits, and physical games


  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week
  • Create a weekly schedule for assigned camp group
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
  • Understand and follow all emergency procedures associated with day camp
  • Understand and follow all safety guidelines for day camp
  • Clear communication with parents about camper's experiences at day camp
  • Ensure that day campsites are kept clean, organized, and free of litter
  • Promote a cooperative, positive, and problem-solving environment at all times
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment
  • Currently, possess, or are willing to get, CPR/First Aid certification
  • May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours weekly
  • Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards
  • Must be willing to work one weekend during the summer
  • All other duties as assigned



This is a seasonal, hourly (based on 40 hours/week) position, paying $220/week or more, depending on the position, with employee perks including:
