Position: Creative Lead

Location: Gardiner, Montana or Bozeman, Montana

Reports To: Chief Marketing Officer

Status: Full-Time / Exempt


Summary Description:

Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF’s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a supporter program which raises funds for priority park projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create visual campaigns that connect audiences with Yellowstone Forever and encourage ongoing engagement with Yellowstone National Park
  • Execute multiple projects from concept to completion for web and print based media
  • Deliver creative design solutions within approved timeline and budget considerations
  • Create ongoing marketing collateral for organization’s promotional needs
  • Collaborate with all departments to pitch and present creative solutions
  • Design and create concepts for a variety of digital media outlets, including social media, email, video platforms, and websites
  • Create print and digital materials and promotions for in-store and online retail events
  • Manage a broad range of design tasks, including in-house client requested revisions and other design directions assigned by Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Online Engagement
  • Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with YF employees, volunteers and partners
  • Travel into Yellowstone and throughout the Greater Yellowstone area and other, as required
  • Other tasks as assigned by Chief Marketing Officer or Director of Online Engagement, or other designated leadership
     

Basic Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in design or digital communications from an accredited institution
  • 3-5 years’ experience building creative campaigns for print and digital platforms
  • Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to brainstorm and articulate design ideas clearly in group settings
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new systems, processes, and applications
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of visual design principals: graphic design, layout, typography, color, corporate identity, and branding
  • Able to prepare files in accordance with specifications for mechanical release
  • Self-motivated and independent, yet team-orientated and able to work well with others
  • Ability to represent YF in a courteous and professional manner
  • A satisfactory criminal background check are conditions of employment
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park
  • Experience in video production and photography

 

Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt position, which will be based in Bozeman or Gardiner. Travel between the offices and throughout the park may be required.
