The Warehouse Associate plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s operations, will be responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock and other data processing. Success in this position requires a high degree of efficiency working with warehouse logistics software to ensure complete accuracy for inventory.

Location: Gardiner, MT

Reports To: Warehouse Lead

Status: Full-Time/ Seasonal (April through October) / Non-Exempt

Housing: limited housing is available to rent in Gardiner. Rent is collected via bi-weekly payroll deduction.

Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF’s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a supporter program which raises funds for priority park projects.

The Warehouse Associate plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s operations, will be responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock and other data processing. Success in this position requires a high degree of efficiency working with warehouse logistics software to ensure complete accuracy for inventory.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enter data in inventory and logistics software programs
  • Receive shipments and track them by utilizing the warehouse management system. To include receipt of the purchase order, posting the item receipt and bin put away
  • Embark merchandise in delivery trucks using appropriate tools
  • Accommodate and carefully handle fragile merchandise
  • Use the warehouse management system to tag and label merchandise with its appropriate barcodes
  • Utilize the warehouse management system to complete online sales order to include picking the order, packaging it appropriately, and shipping it using prescribed mailing procedures
  • Box, wrap, and pack the merchandise following relevant procedures and standards
  • Prepare all transfer orders utilizing the warehouse management system to include picking, packing the merchandise, and preparing the packing slip for the store
  • Record in the warehouse management system all impaired or damaged merchandise items
  • Operate adequate merchandise management tools (for example, walkie stacker)
  • Conduct daily cycle counts on the warehouse management system
  • Welcome delivery trucks and assist with placing the product on the dock in an organized manner
  • Effectively communicate warehouse-related information across the organization, National Park Service, and all Park partners
  • Represent YF and its mission accurately and positively
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with YF employees, volunteers, and partners
  • Other tasks as assigned by Warehouse Manager, or other designated leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with inventory and logistics software programs
  • Great physical stamina and manual dexterity
  • Team player
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Problem solver
  • Ability to count accurately and be consistent in recording inventory in the warehouse management system
  • Ability to lift boxes/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds (with support of lift equipment)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely, organized, and accurate manner
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish goals
  • Ability to represent YF in a courteous and professional manner
  • A satisfactory criminal background check are conditions of employment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment
  • Previous working experience as a Warehouse Worker for 2 years
