We are just 5 miles from Yellowstone National Park and the small rural town of Gardiner, Montana offering incredible views of the Park and surrounding ranch lands. It is quiet with scenic mountain views and wild animals can be seen near and far as the seasons pass.

Yellowstone Basin Inn is an exceptional Gardiner, Montana lodging located at the edge of Yellowstone National Park. We aspire for our guests to enjoy great service, the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem’s nature, and local and sustainable foods. Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

Outgoing, friendly, honest, reliable, enthusiastic, flexible, a team player, willing to learn, and is interested in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

We employ from May through October for our summer seasonal positions. Each job is little bit different and specific employment dates and schedules are worked out during our interview.

Room and Board

Our housing:

  • is a 3 bedroom apartment, with common kitchen, bathroom and hang out room
  • it accommodates up to 9
  • it is $100/person/month
  • it is drug free, non-smoking, no pets, no dependents, and women only (due to the size and location of the apartment, it does not have coed bathrooms), for the duration of the job
  • the bedrooms accommodate 2-4 people
  • it is fully furnished with bedding, towels, basic kitchen utensils
  • you supply disposable items, like: toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, light bulbs, etc. and your own food
  • location just 5 miles from Yellowstone National Park

Employee Perks

We enjoy group outings and hikes in Yellowstone National Park, horse back riding, going to the rodeo, rafting on the Yellowstone, ice cream socials, pot luck dinners, roasting marshmallows and other activities.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Yellowstone Basin Inn is located 5 miles from Gardiner, 45 miles from Livingston, and 78 miles from Bozeman, Montana.

Housing is on site, so no transportation is needed to get to work.

Car is beneficial for our rural location as we do not have public transportation in the area.  However, we try to accommodate our staff who don't have transportation.

We are able to arrange for pick up from Livingston or Bozeman; please contact us to make arrangements.

Our Jobs

2017 POSITIONS: May 1 - October 21

ASSISTANT INNKEEPER – one position

Hours vary; may have to work mornings and/or evenings, and split shifts during training.

This position is responsible for assisting the Innkeepers with running an exceptional Montana lodging establishment and providing excellent customer service full-time. Must be able to work holidays & weekends, from May 1 through October 21.

Starting wage is $13.15 per hour or more based on experience.

Do you dream of: practicing the art of hospitality or running an inn or B&B? We will train and mentor you in all aspects of the business—and pay you too!

After a successful season and with the right person this position will transform into the manager position. It will become a 10-11 months/year job, with paid and unpaid personal time off and insurance.

In the meantime, this position is part of a team and substitutes for other positions as needed throughout. You will be cross-training and work: Front Desk, Concierge, Guest Services, Food Service, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Employee Relations. We provide extensive property-specific training.

The job responsibilities are to:

  • greet and check guests in and out
  • answer phones and guests’ questions
  • make reservations in online RezOvation system
  • provide concierge service
  • supervise the housekeeping staff
  • perform all housekeeping and laundry duties when needed
  • checking rooms
  • inventory and order housekeeping and laundry supplies
  • responsible for overall cleanliness of the Inn and grounds maintenance
  • other duties as assigned

Must be guest services oriented, clean and neat, self-reliant, detailed oriented, as well as have the ability to see the big picture, work well with the rest of the staff (some of which are international students) in a team atmosphere in a self-directed environment.

BREAKFAST BUFFET PREP COOK/BAKER & LUNCHES-TO-GO PREPARER – one position

Hours: 6 am – 2 pm.

The cook works full-time, must be able to work holidays & weekends, from May 1 through October 21.

Starting wage is $12.15 per hour or more based on experience.

The Cook's job is to enthusiastically assist the Innkeepers with managing an exceptional Montana lodging establishment, providing excellent customer service, offering a phenomenal breakfast experience and Lunches-to-Go to our guests.

...then this job is for you:

You are in charge of our kitchen and we provide extensive property-specific training.

The duties and responsibilities are:

  • all breakfast service and clean up with a kitchen assistant
  • make from scratch for breakfast buffet various baked casseroles, muffins and baked side dishes from our recipes or from your own creations (NO short order cooking)
  • make Lunches-to-Go; usually sandwiches or salads, your creative suggestions will be welcomed
  • oversee the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room
  • make sure breakfast bar is stocked with all cereals, breakfast condiments, and dishes
  • make sure sandwiches, cookies and other things for Lunches-to-Go have been prepared for the next day
  • report maintenance problems and breakages
  • keep inventory current
  • other duties are assigned as needed.

Must be guest services oriented, clean and neat, self-reliant, detailed oriented, as well as have the ability to see the big picture, work well with the rest of the staff (some of which are international students) in a team atmosphere in a self-directed environment.

FRONT DESK / HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR – one position

Hours: 7 or 8 am to 3 or 4 pm.

This position is responsible for all aspects of front desk, housekeeping functions, providing excellent customer service, and assisting the Innkeepers with managing an exceptional Montana lodging establishment full-time, must be able to work holidays & weekends, from May 1 through October 21.

Starting wage is $12.15 per hour or more based on experience.

The person in this position is part of a team and substitutes for other positions as needed throughout the season. We provide extensive property-specific training.

The job responsibilities are to:

GUEST SERVICES SUPPORT TEAM – four positions

Hours vary from: 7:30 or 9 am to 4 pm.

The Guest Services Support Team’s responsibility is to enthusiastically assist the Innkeepers with all aspects of running an exceptionally clean Montana lodging establishment and providing excellent customer service to our guests. The team members work full-time, must be able to work holidays & weekends, from May 1 through October 21.

Starting wage is $11.15 per hour or more based on experience.

We provide extensive property-specific training and the duties encompass:

  • housekeeping of guest rooms: : make beds, clean bathrooms and kitchens, dust, take out trash and recycling, clean windows, vacuum
  • laundry duties: laundering towels, receiving laundry from commercial laundry service, sort it & stock laundry rooms
  • relieve cook / kitchen assistant: assist the cook making lunches, keep the drinks, dishes, utensils stocked, bus tables and clean dishes
  • dining room, restroom, lobby, laundry rooms clean up
  • reporting maintenance problems, breakages, supply shortages and anything unusual
  • responsible for overall cleanliness of the Inn and grounds, some yard work
  • other duties are assigned as needed
