POSITION: A hands-on working position that supports the mission of a profitable and efficient food and beverage operation by striving to ensure product standards and quality. Works in food preparation, kitchen line, or banquet line.
INTERESTS: Must be willing to adventure into the picturesque Southern Black Hills region of Custer State Park near Custer, South Dakota. QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer candidates available May 2021 – November 1st. Work commitment times can be negotiated. Seeking line cook with at least one year previous kitchen line experience. Must be able to work sautee, grill or broil station with moderate volume. Need the ability to be self-directed and to accomplish assigned tasks. Must have some knowledge of food safety practices. Need good team skills, high energy, and quality food orientation.

The Employee Experience
The Black Hills are a busy tourist destination for horseback trail rides, old west cookouts, hiking, climbing, biking and fly fishing. Breathtaking Forest backgrounds, panoramic mountain views, picturesque Mountain Lake venues and abundant wildlife such as Deer, Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats and the nation’s largest free-roaming buffalo herd are all a part of the scenery.
Employees receive park activity discounts and can enjoy all of the amenities. Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and the nearby Badlands National Park are places to visit on the “must-see” list.
We encourage all employees to take advantage of all there is to do and to see. We suggest to do all of the tourist things as well as to see the bounty of the Black Hills. The Black Hills are a sacred place to the Native Americans, indigenous to the area because of the natural beauty of the landscape.
We have a dorm activity director who will organize trips and excursions to the area attractions and landmarks to help you get all you can from your Custer experience.

The ideal candidate will support food and beverage operations and look to be a part of and add value to team continuity in the service of our guests.
Room and Board
For management position we generally offer room and board provided as a part of the compensation package.
For employees the package is approximately $480 per month for 3 meals a day and a shared room and bath.

For management position we offer competitive wages, we provide Lodging and Meals and a Season ending bonus! Positions generally run from May 1 to October 25th. Permanent position are available with Regency Hotel Management and WR Hospitality at season end. We are South Dakota’s largest Hotel and Restaurant network.
Getting Here and Getting Around
One can bring a personal vehicle but it is not necessary. Management candidates must have their own vehicle.
Rides into town are arranged by the Dorm Activity Director. We will also pick up any new employees in Rapid City which is 38 miles away. Rapid City can be reached by bus and several airlines.
The main activities are sight-seeing with Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, The Badlands National Park, Devils Tower, Spearfish Canyon, Historic Hill City, Historic Deadwood, Wooly Mammoth Site at Hot Springs.
Touring the wildlife loop and other park venues to see the Buffalo herd, Elk, Deer, Mountain Goats, Big Horn Sheep, Antelope and wild Burros is a fun and must thing to do. Often the Buffalo herd will come to you as we have the nations largest free- roaming herd.
Other mountain and mountain lake activities such as hiking, climbing, biking, canoe or kayaking and fly fishing are also in high demand.
