  • Room Attendant

    Housekeeping

    The Bar Harbor Inn is looking to expand their Housekeeping team for the 2022 season.  At the Bar Harbor Inn, the housekeepers are a valuable part of our team to help build lasting bonds with our guests and help provide the signature service that makes all the difference. 

    This is a full-time seasonal position. 

    You will be performing cleaning duties in the guests’ rooms and bathrooms as well as keeping the common spaces of the hotel area pristine.  These duties include dusting, washing, mopping floors, windows, removing, and replacing linen, making beds, and other laundry and cleaning duties required to keep the hotel up to standards.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Cleaning of guest rooms
    • Replenish guest amenities daily with branded supplies
    • Check and verify items in guest rooms are in good working order i.e. TV’s, remotes, lights, clocks, hairdryers, coffee pots, AC/heating, and phones. 
    • Deep clean rooms as needed
    • Report any potential maintenance issues in a timely manner
    • Ensuring housekeeping equipment is in good working condition, i.e. carts, vacuums, mops, etc.
    • Turn in all lost and found items to Housekeeping management the same day found
    • Supports the hotel in achieving high performance levels in service and profitability
    • Responds to guest requests in a timely and courteous manner
    • Performs additional duties as assigned

    Skills Required:

    Ability to work well with others (i.e. interacts appropriately with guests and staff). Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks safely and in a timely manner. Ability to learn and adapt to change. Excellent customer service skills and high attention to detail.

    Physical Demands:

    This is a physically demanding job that requires extended periods of walking, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, climbing stairs,  and use of cleaning agents. Extended workdays may be required to accomplish tasks and meet workload demands during peak periods.

  • Maintenance Associate

    We’ll nail the job for you. Entry-level Housing Maintenance Associate

    Work in the oceanfront village of Bar Harbor, minutes away from the stunning Acadia National Park.

    Witham Family Hotels is looking for a proactive, problem-solving handyperson to join our Housing team. As an entry-level maintenance technician, you will work closely with our maintenance team and Housing Coordinator to respond to maintenance requests from our employees and perform preventative maintenance. We will train the right person. 

    This position offers flexible hours with the possibility of full-time year-round work. The right candidate may decide to work for the season. 

    This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to fix things, help people and who is a self-starter. 

    You must be able to take initiative, communicate effectively and display problem solving skills while providing excellent customer service.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Promptly identifying, communicating, and resolving maintenance issues.
    • Support the housing team.
    • Assume responsibility and comply with our standards.
    • Work closely with team members.
    • Maintains landscaping and building interior & exterior to company standards. 
    • Responds to tenants' concerns or complaints in a timely and courteous manner.
    • Arrive to work in appropriate work attire (uniform, footwear, name tag) neat and professional in appearance.

  • Maintenance Technician

    $16.00 - $22.00 / hour

    The Bar Harbor Grand Hotel is looking for a hardworking Maintenance Technician to join their team.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Safely and efficiently maintain, improve, and repair hotel rooms and grounds so that our guests will have a safe and pleasant experience.
    • Give responses to all visitors in an effective and prompt manner.
    • Carry out inspection on public areas on a daily basis in case of problems arising unexpectedly.
    • Repair plumbing, PTAC units, room furniture, bathroom fixtures and tile, painting, wall vinyl, electric locks, television, carpentry, etc.
    • Complete routine equipment checks and preform preventative maintenance on hotels' machinery (boilers, laundry equipment, vacuums, etc.) as schedule.
    • Guarantee that projects are all promptly accomplished and in line with appropriate specifications.
    • Work together with the Maintenance Manager, Housekeeping Manager, connects with the General Manager to discuss any aspect of operations which will involve the maintenance department.
    • Carry out assessment of requirements for completion of reports, or work orders to the management as stated by standard procedures.
    • Engage in flexible work schedules to be able to perform well during emergencies.
    • Display a positive "can do" attitude while maintaining I high level of professionalism consistent with the company values.  

     

    Skills Required:

    • Knowledgeable in mechanical, plumbing, architectural or electronics fields with experience in maintenance.
    • Pleasant demeanor with ability to smile.
    • Ability to handle internal and external clients with high degree of tolerance.
    • Ability to kneel, bend, carry, walk, stoop, climb, and lift items (over 50 lbs.), in addition to possessing manual skills.
    • Ability to communicate efficiently with all other departments and department leaders.

     

    Experience / Education:

    Minimum 1 year of general building maintenance or equivalent in a trade profession.

    Overview:

    As the Pastry cook, working with a team at a multi-outlet oceanfront property that includes, fine dining, casual dining restaurant, high volume continental breakfast, and banquets.  

    The Bar Harbor Inn has many different pastry dishes that are essential to each meal.  You will be required to follow recipes and execute the desired menu while being able to communicate efficiently to fellow teammates.  You will be assisting the chef and sous chef in providing high quality preparation of most dishes as well as the initiative to develop and promote profitability while being an example of others around you.

    The Bar Harbor Grand Hotel is looking for a full-time Front Desk Agent to join the team.

    As a Front Desk Agent your role will be to provide that critical first impression and welcome to our guests. In many cases you are the first team member they interact with and can set the tone for the duration of their stay. If you have a natural passion for delivering exceptional service, enjoy solving problems, and are comfortable using a computer to check guests in and out this may be the role for you.

    Job Duties:

    • Provides exceptional customer service.
    • Monitors rates, availability and guest room blocks on a daily basis.
    • Ensures balanced accounting functions, including cash banks, A/R, credit card processing and room charges.
    • Maintains open and efficient communication with other departments.
    • Demonstrates commitment to hotel by professional appearance, respectful communication and integrity.
    • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
    • Supervise daily shift process ensuring all team members adhere to standard operating procedures.
