Camp Paradise, Willow Creek's summer camp in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, sets the stage for dads and their kids to make memories together to last a lifetime. The rustic facilities boast an amazing camp kitchen, beautiful new chapel, river views and unbeatable, star-filled skies.

As the Operations & Maintenance Manager you’ll spend the summer months at Camp Paradise in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula living in a cabin, and the rest of your time at our South Barrington, IL campus.  While at camp, you will manage and execute daily operations, perform general maintenance and respond to emergency and non-emergency needs to ensure the camp runs smoothly to support the great goals of the ministry. While at the South Barrington campus you’ll manage and execute home season operation goals, and ensure all operational needs are ready for next season. 

The salary range for this position is around $44,500 - $62,000 depending on experience and skill set. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, retirement savings with company match, generous paid time off, maternity and paternity leave, mental health counseling reimbursement, and more. The start date is flexible.

Job Responsibilities at Camp

  • Track and check all critical systems 
    • Walk-in Fridge/Freezer Temps and operating status
    • Power Grid-Voltage, operating status and maintenance 
    • Fuel and propane levels
    • Take Water samples for public drinking services 
  • Aid Director on all team projects and work weeks 
    • “All staff” workday prep. I.E.-Gathering needed tools and materials 
    • Facilitate workweek functionality. I.E.-Greet volunteers, maintain critical systems, run point on projects as needed, jump in where needed
  • Fix and maintain the buildings, grounds, and equipment  
    • On-call to fix things that break at camp. I.E.-Doorknobs, toilet seats, decks, etc. 
    • Pump Outhouses
    • Wash Vehicles
  • Train summer staff on certain jobs (garbage duty, watercrafts, food runs, etc) 

Job Responsibilities at South Barrington Campus

  • Purchasing of yearly maintenance supplies (Oil, filters, parts, etc)
  • Vehicle Maintenance
  • Assist Fleet Mechanic in getting the camp fleet ready for the season 
  • Load trailers with supplies to go to Camp
  • Assist in workweek details (ordering windows, coordinating deliveries, etc)
  • Work on the inventory list of equipment and tools, updating after each season 
  • Research/Purchase new equipment needed for next season (tools, trucks, pumps, etc)
  • Help the Trades Team on site
  • Snow removal 
  • Assist in on-going campus projects

Success is defined as…

  • For the Home season: Getting all necessary items purchased and lined up for the summer season. 
  • At Camp: Maintaining a smooth operation of all critical systems and maintaining the buildings and grounds up to the camp standard. 

Preferred Skills and Experience


  • General understanding across grounds maintenance and construction
  • Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment
  • Flexibility in work schedule and start times
  • Ability to quickly learn tasks across camp maintenance and construction

  • Self-driven--can stay on task without direct supervision

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in general building/equipment maintenance is preferred but not required
