The Employee Experience
There is something very special about being on Crane Lake in Voyageurs National Park. We love people, love our staff and take pride in offering guests a full service, trouble free vacation. Folks look forward to their Voyagaire Houseboat trip all year long, and it is our goal to make that vacation everything they hoped for. Our staff works together to operate a first class resort, meeting customer needs and allowing them to really relax and focus on their friends and families, making great memories together. This Park is known for its pristine, untouched natural beauty. Wonderful opportunities are here for boating, hiking, swimming, fishing, camping, wildlife watching, paddling, star gazing, cliff jumping and more!
We seek to hire hard workers who are honest, kind, flexible, and willing to work extra hours when needed. We have many activities and opportunities for optional bonus hours including help with bar bingo games, radio shows, evening trivia games, etc.
Room and Board
Our seasonal summer crew is typically about 15 people strong who live right on site. We provide housing and laundry facilities at no charge. Meal plans are offered for a fee of $10 per day and include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, deducted from your paycheck. Our seasonal staff lives in one building with 9 rooms constructed about ten years ago, although the entire building just got brand new windows in the fall of 2016.
On your time off, you can enjoy the complimentary use of canoes, kayaks, and small motor boats. You can camp for free at any site on Crane Lake, or go deeper into the heart of Voyageurs National Park. Beautiful hiking trails in Superior National Forest or the Boundary Water Canoe Area are right out our backdoor as well. You do not need to have a car here, you will find plenty of nature loving activities to fill your free time (and the nearest town to drive to is over an hour away).
Getting Here and Getting Around
The best airport to fly into is Duluth, MN. Flights into Minneapolis/St Paul are also an option, as there is a bus service that can bring you from the airport to Duluth. We can pick you up in Duluth and bring you the rest of the way here (about 150 miles). If you have your own vehicle, that is great too! We do have free parking available.
Everything that makes Voyageurs a National Park will be yours to enjoy. This is the only water-based national park in the lower 48 states. Home to loons, eagles, wolves, black bear, moose, otters, ruffed grouse, whitetail deer, beavers, and all kinds of fish, you will enjoy being "out there" and unplugged from the hustle and bustle of college or city life. It is a great place to hike, camp, swim, paint a picture, read a book, write a book, take awesome photos, go for a paddle, or just lay on the beach and get a tan. We hope you will love your work and love your free time too.
