The Employee Experience

We are a family owned and operated resort so this is so much more than a job. We have a high return rate for employees which makes our job openings very competitive. During the interview process, we try our best to describe our off-grid lifestyle, the environment, the job, and the connections that staff form; however, we have found that this experience goes far beyond a typical job: Team members work hard, alongside the owners, colleagues, and managers to provide our guests with the most incredible experience possible in the Flat Tops Wilderness, while enjoying the opportunity to play hard, and make lifelong friends.
Our guests are here to connect with a staff member. They will ask to hear your story, laugh with you, and expect wholesome, country hospitality.
Since we are a small staff of 16-18, we are looking for personable, adventurous, hard-working, honest folks with a willingness to learn. Staff interaction with our guests is the single most important ingredient to our success. We’re looking for people who can learn about the history of Trappers Lake Lodge and share it with new guests; likewise, welcome back the 62% of our returning guests- many guests have been vacationing at Trappers Lake Lodge for over 60 years through the generations of their families. We value a wholesome lifestyle and are looking for others who want the same lifestyle. Since many of our team returns, most new staff enter as Guest Services which allows the opportunity to experience a variety of jobs in order to gain a better understanding of the operation as a whole and return the next season in a managerial or departmentalized role.
If you are looking for a party place with a crazy night life…. Look on past us! We have very strict drinking, drug, and quiet-time rules on our property for employees and quiet time for our guests, as well! When our power is off—NO Loud voices or parties are tolerated! Our guests are true outdoor enthusiasts who want to UNPLUG FROM THE CITY LIFE!

We offer full room and board to all Trappers Lake Lodge staff members. The accommodation is a large house with 8 identical bedrooms, a common living area with a living room, big screen TV, and a full kitchen. Each bedroom has its own private shower, sink, and toilet. Our hearty morning buffet, a sandwich/salad station, and/or order off of the staff menu provide a wide variety of options. A refrigerator in the staff housing is available for your personal snacks, missed meals, and for the storage of specialty food items that the kitchen prepares a few times a week. The credits include private bathrooms, internet(limited to off shift), utilities (water, sewer, power, heat, and trash). Our location is REMOTE and truly off grid. We have a repeater phone that is accessible after business hours in the restaurant. The property does have satellite internet for limited use when off shift. The closest town is Meeker, Colorado, over 50 minutes away.
A competitive seasonal salary with resort sized tips, free room and board, a beautiful mountain environment, discounts on merchandise in our general store and discounts on specialty meals(for example: prime rib, BBQ ribs, trout, elk burger), are just the beginning of the perks. Team members can also use any of our remote summer camps(if they are available on days off) to hike and stay on their own! We have a screened in porch on the staff house for morning yoga or evening sunsets, two firepit options for employees, and use of our boats on the lake when they are available!
If you are looking for a career in hospitality at 9600 feet, we offer incentives and training for returning team members!
