  • Activities Guide

    Activities

    Is being outdoors your passion? Do you enjoy teaching, guiding and enriching the lives of others in an outdoor environment? If so, becoming an Activities Guide with The Resort at Paws Up is the job for you. The Activities Guide position allows you to work outside while sharing your love for the area and the activity amenities such as hiking trails, archery, skeet shooting, ATV trails, ropes course, river and lake crafts and the list goes on.

    We are currently seeking adventurists, sports enthusiasts, outgoing individuals and customer-focused applicants with a strong work ethic to join our Activities department for our summer.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead guests on hikes, archery, mountain biking, the ropes course, ATV tours, climbing, skeet shooting and river and lake expeditions.
    • Perform safety review and instruction for each guided activity for participants.
    • Lead expeditions independently for maximum of 12 attendees and co-lead expeditions for a maximum of 24 attendees.
    • Share a passion for the outdoors.
    • Perform physical and administrative duties for the preparation and completion of each activity expedition.
    • Work closely with Activities management, co-workers and other departments to provide effective communication, planning and organization to ensure all Activities needs are met.
    • Remain calm under pressure; handle crisis management as it unfolds and remain flexible to change as events happen.
    • Be organized and detail-oriented, utilize checklists or other systems to ensure no task is left undone, anticipate unexpected events and remain focused on results.
    • Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team-oriented, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • Assist in other Activities assignments and duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related coursework
    • 18 years of age or older
    • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving policy
    • Creditable experience in teaching and/or outdoor guiding
    • Minimum of two years of experience in customer service; excellent communication skills
    • Current CPR/first-aid certification
    • Ability to work collaboratively and individually

  • Paws Up Pit Crew

    We are currently hiring for Paws Up Pit Crew to join our Culinary team! This is an opportunity to cook at our newest dining location, The Shed. Be part of our team and master your BBQ chops, grill unique dishes over a live fire and truly enjoy your time with our guests in an open-air atmosphere.

    We are looking for a genuinely kind, and personable individuals. This opportunity allows you to bond with our guests and help develop a trust for Paws Up and the ability to curate a culinary experience we would expect for ourselves. You will learn not only from our core team, but talented Chefs visiting from across the nation.  Applicants should be responsible, energetic, and above all positive. Previous kitchen/BBQ experience is helpful, but we encourage anyone with ambition to forward their career in the culinary field to apply.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Setup station with predetermined mise en place to ensure everything will be ready for service.
    • Cook all food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
    • Ability to set up, break down, and operate a private kitchen independently.
    • Prepare recipes alongside our Culinary team to meet service deadlines.
    • Ensure quality at all times. Collaborate with our Chefs to gain insight, and consistency.
    • Identify opportunities and achieve better results next time to continue and improve standards.
    • Setup, breakdown, and perform maintenance of all equipment.
    • Assist other kitchen team members when needed.
    • Exhibit an understanding of the importance of safe food handling procedures, as well as safety procedures in the kitchen.

    • Practice sanitation and stock rotation and refrigerator cleanliness; keep all work areas clean and tidy.

  • Barista

    Food & Beverage

    We are searching for an experienced and energetic Barista to join our growing Food & Beverage team. The purpose of the Barista is to make and serve beverages with proper presentation and efficiency. Beverages include coffee, tea, soft drinks and smoothies. Aid with plating and delivering pastries for guests. Maintain a clean and neat work area. Be able to provide food & beverage orders quickly and neatly. Assist servers on the dining room with running food, bussing and cleaning.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Stocking, grinding, blending and brewing coffee and tea for guests
    • Packaging food & beverage for the guests
    • Assist in opening duties associated with opening the restaurant
    • Know the sequence of service and follow it each time when approaching a table
    • Understanding the difference between different coffee/tea blends and providing education to guests and servers
    • Answer questions pertaining to the restaurant menus
    • Keep up-to-date knowledge on all menu items including preparation, any allergens, and alternative preparations, and specials; Communicate food restrictions to Food & Beverage and Culinary team

  • Bartender

    We are currently seeking Bartenders under the Food & Beverage. Bartenders are responsible for preparing cocktails, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to Members and guests. Bartenders are charged with working alongside the Director of F&B, Restaurant Manager, and Sommeliers to provide a solid knowledge of wine and mixed drinks.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.
    • Assess guests’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
    • Take and serving orders, including answering questions pertaining to the menus.
    • Relay any special dietary restrictions and special requests.
    • Work in collaboration with other teammates to deliver guests expectations.
    • Maintain a clean, organized dining room and workstation.
    • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by leadership.
    • Provide a positive dining experience by creating a comfortable and professional environment for our guests.
    • Assist in all necessary service functions in restaurant operation as the Manager/Director dictates.

  • Landscaping Laborer

    Our Landscaping Department is currently hiring Landscaping Laborers. The Landscaping Laborers work as team members of the Grounds Crew and are responsible for the mowing, trimming, rock work maintenance and upkeep of various landscape areas around The Resort at Paws Up.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Mow lawn areas around The Resort at Paws Up to specifications by operating and using hand and power mowing equipment.
    • Operate various mowers, string trimmers, hand tools and light maintenance equipment.
    • Perform inspections of facilities and grounds and report any situations of concern in an immediate manner.
    • Use safely and respect company tools, vehicles and equipment and report damage or problems to department Supervisor.
    • Operate string trimmers to trim around flowerbeds, trees, bushes and grass areas.
    • Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis.
    • Report equipment problems or failure to the Maintenance Department and Landscaping Manager.
    • Clean the maintenance areas daily.
    • Maintain a high level of awareness and attention to detail.
    • Assist with grooming and maintaining activity trails.
    • Assist with pest control on resort grounds.
    • Complete all landscaping duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work
    • 18 years of age or older
    • Previous landscaping experience
    • Proficient ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Valid driver’s license with ability to meet company driving policy

  • Guest Services Agent

    We are currently seeking Guest Service Agents to join our Guest Services team! To provide guests the best service through transportation and answer guest questions through their check in and checkout process.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain a warm, welcoming and professional demeanor when greeting and interacting with guests
    • Assist with the guest check-in/checkout process with The Resort by reviewing guest’s itinerary, assisting with Paws Up app questions and in general assisting guests in their needs
    • Pick-up/drop-off guests from the airport, their accommodations and various locations on property
    • Drive and operate gasoline or diesel-powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport guests safely
    • Provide property accommodation tour upon drop-off to lodging accommodation. Deliver guest luggage from vehicle. Inform guests of notable elements and operation of lodging accommodations. Assist guests with app setup and answer any questions about their itinerary
    • Ensure that pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports are completed throughout shift. Check condition of the vehicle’s tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water and safety equipment to ensure everything is in working order
    • Ensure confidentiality of guests before and throughout their stay

    We are searching for an experienced and energetic Host / Hostess to join our growing Food & Beverage team. The purpose of the role is to greet and seat guests while coordinating guest reservations on OpenTable and responding to inquiries in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all The Resort at Paws Up policies.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Seat guests promptly at a table, pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preferences
    • Receive the name and house/tent that guests are staying in
    • Check coats
    • Set up and maintain a clean host/hostess stand
    • Have direct contact with guests and as such good communication skills are a necessity
    • Clear extra plate settings on the table
    • Act promptly to all guest and manager requests
    • Help prepare dining room for service
    • Ensure menus are clean and up to date
    • Adjust floor plan as night progresses
    • Answer and record telephone bookings and inquiries
    • Report table status to kitchen and restaurant manager
    • Update reservations and report to the kitchen

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work
    • Minimum 6 months of food & beverage experience, preferably in fine dining or a resort
    • Knowledge of world class hospitality and service

    We are currently seeking Housekeepers to join our team! The role of the Housekeeper is to make sure that all assigned areas of the luxury homes, public areas, Glamping tents are serviced daily and cleaned to a high standard.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Clean all luxury homes, Glamping tents, public areas to the standards of The Resort at Paws Up.
    • Perform a variety of cleaning activities, including but not limited to, sweeping; scrubbing; mopping, polishing; vacuuming; and shampooing.
    • Ensure all homes and rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards.
    • Operate within various housekeeping teams to achieve an exceptional level of efficiency and quality as they relate to housekeeping and cleaning services.
    • Follow assigned cleaning instructions and meet deadlines.
    • Stock homes, tents, and/or areas with all necessary supplies while continuously keeping all work areas clean and organized.
    • Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace appropriately.
    • Converse with the guests at a high level, being aware of their needs and fulfill special guest requests as instructed by management or the guest directly.
    • Ensure confidentiality and security of visited rooms/homes.
    • Report all problems and maintenance repairs using correct procedures.
    • Turn in items found in homes, Glamping camps or public areas to Housekeeping Management or the Lost and Found Department.

  • Maintenance Technician

    We are currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician provides services in the support of acquisition, operation and lifecycle maintenance of The Resort at Paws Ups’ facilities. Maintenance Technicians contribute to the minor and major facility improvements, renovations and upkeep of new and old facilities.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform general maintenance on equipment, units and buildings.
    • Support and improve maintenance services that effectively address problems affecting guests and employees.
    • Manage repair and maintenance projects and building improvements by effectively coordinating and planning all tasks.
    • Coordinate maintenance efforts with affected departments.
    • Perform preventative maintenance.
    • Operate hand tools, power tools and other shop equipment; keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related coursework
    • 2 years of technical training
    • Knowledge and experience working with electrical, plumbing, general building maintenance equipment and experience performing repairs for a facility
    • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving policy

They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide consistent professional spa massage and body treatments compliant with spa protocols and accepted documentation practices.
    • Provide accurate information and application regarding services and products and spa facilities.

    Our Wranglers add to the memorable experience for our guests. Wranglers take guests on trips on horseback around property while being professional, having a positive outlook, taking ownership over their work and creating a safe environment where people can grow and create unforgettable memories.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead guest trail rides on “green” horses.
    • Instruct guests on basic horsemanship, assisting guests onto horses, guiding them on rides and conversing about the horses, The Resort, and the history of the area to provide an exemplary guest experience.
    • Prepare horses for trail rides and horse related activities, such as grooming, bridling, saddling, feeding, doctoring, and tack repair.
    • Work horses in the preseason, using the ranch’s horsemanship techniques.
    • Perform general ranch chores.
    • Assist in daily herd-health management and identify injuries or soundness issues prior to selecting horses for activities. Assist in basic veterinary care as needed.
    • Focus on the safety of guests, self, coworkers, and livestock while executing daily job duties.

    • Candidates for this position must be interested in mastering the basics of Vaquero/Natural Horsemanship, chiefly the lineage of the Dorrance brothers, Ray Hunt and Buck Brannaman. In this program, those basics are defined as:
      1. Feel, timing, and balance
      2. Lateral flexion
      3. Proper breakover of the hindquarters
      4. Movement of front quarters, independently of hind quarters
      5. Familiarization to flag, tarp, rope, etc.
      6. Guidance with legs and minimal reins
      7. Vertical flexion/soft feel
      8. Prompt responses to seat, leg, and rein cues
      9. Keeping horse within the rider’s rectangle
    • This is not a “nose-to-tail” operation. Though we do take novice riders (in addition to very advanced riders from all disciplines) out on rides, our aim is to change the way all our guests think about and interact with their horses, and each other, through our use of, and conversations about, our horsemanship. This means that you must be comfortable with multitasking while on the trail: minding/working your horse, talking with guests, and being vigilant for potential issues that may arise while riding in all gaits across all types of terrain.
    • Wranglers are expected to groundwork their horses at the beginning of each day, using the program approved methods and expectations. Wranglers who are given greener horses will also be expected to put a ride on their horses in the arena prior to their first ride of the day. During that first ride, the program’s riding checklist will be expected to be worked through, step by step, to ensure the horse’s focus and development. All wrangler horses are destined for the guest string, so all wrangler horses are projects, however the level of project horse given to each wrangler is determined by the individuals interest in and dedication to learning and executing our horsemanship methods, amongst other things.

    We are seeking Event Servers to join our Food and Beverage team. Event Servers must be passionate about hospitality and providing the highest quality of customer service to our guests. Event Servers perform food and beverage duties at outdoor and private dining events and work as part of a team to set up and break down all our special events. Event Servers must maintain the highest service of standard in compliance with The Resort at Paws Up’s policies.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Set up events by moving tables and chairs, placing tablecloths, collecting proper silverware, glasses and plates.
    • Take orders from guests.
    • Know the sequence of service and follow it each time when approaching a table.
    • Prepare tables with special attention to sanitation and presentation.
    • Attend to guests upon entrance.
    • Direct guests through the dining and activity areas.
    • Have knowledge of the property and the ability to educate guests about The Resort.
    • Keep buffet stations full.
    • Keep up-to-date knowledge on all menu items including preparation, any allergens and alternative preparations and specials; communicate food restrictions to the Food and Beverage and Culinary team.
    • Check food before serving it to guests to ascertain that appearance, temperature, order and portions are correct.
    • Converse with the guests at a high level, being aware of their needs and fulfill special guest requests as instructed by management or the guests directly.
    • Ensure confidentiality of guests before and throughout their stay.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related coursework
    • Minimum of one year of experience in a Food and Beverage department, preferably in a resort or fine-dining setting
    • Knowledge of world class hospitality and service
    • Valid food handler’s license
    • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving policy

    • Organize, plan and participate in the maintenance of the flower and landscape beds.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Remove unwanted plants by manual, mechanical, or chemical means inside and adjacent to property lawns.
    • Identify and control diseased turf to maintain a high level of health and visual appeal with the lawns.
    • Repair damaged areas of lawn incurred by wildlife or Resort activity.
    • Work in conjunction with Irrigation Technician to take measurements and identify areas suffering from over or under-watering and correct appropriately.
    • Use testing methods to determine deficiencies in soil parameters and correct with proper supplements.
    • Follow fertilizing and core aerating schedules.

    The Resort at Paws Up is looking for experienced Fishing Guides with an extensive background in fly-fishing. Fishing guides share knowledge of the rivers of the region, entomology, and fishing techniques to guests while creating lasting memories for them. Safety is a high priority during instruction and fishing expeditions.  

    We are seeking outgoing, customer-focused candidates with a strong work ethic to join our Activities department for our summer.  

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Teach fly fishing fundamentals, including fly casting and fly-fishing, to a wide range of ages and abilities while adhere to the rules and regulations of the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department, and the Montana Board of Outfitters. 
    • Instruct guests in the art of fly fishing, river etiquette and wildlife of the area.
    • Conduct fly fishing excursions in a variety of settings, including in a floating raft.
    • Preform safety and instruction of each guided activity to participants.
    • Navigate and row a drift boat or raft efficiently and safely.; Pilot a river raft down Class II and (very limited) Class III whitewater.
    • Understand river morphology, whitewater rescue techniques, and proper river etiquette.
    • Share passion for the outdoors and Western Montana with guests.
    • Operate company vehicles properly.
    • Perform physical and administrative duties for the preparation and end of each activity expedition.; Assist in lunch presentation and preparation.
    • Work closely with Activities management, co-workers and other departments on providing effective communication, planning, and organization to ensure all activity needs are met.
    • Remain calm under pressure; handle crisis management as it unfolds and remain flexible to change as events happen.
    • Be helpful, respectful, approachable and team oriented, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • Assist in other activity assignments and duties as assigned.

    • Assist in all aspects of Nine Mile Kitchen, Chuck Wagon, and Camp operations as needed
