JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for preparing and administering the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for The Oasis at Death Valley. They will also assist the Director of Engineering in the day-to-day functions of the physical plant, maintenance, and engineering operations for The Oasis at Death Valley.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of construction, mechanical and specialized trade skills.
  • Experience with INFOR/EAM or other CMMS program, including report analysis and preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Experience with developing and managing financial plans.
  • Must have strong leadership and guest service skills.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations and laws concerning environmental issues, risk management and safety.
  • Must have working knowledge of all Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related to work in an extreme outside environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid driver’s license and comply with the Xanterra company vehicle policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with the planning of new facilities, remodels and installation of new equipment.
  • In the absence of the Director and Assistant Director of Engineering – Facility Management will assume management responsibilities for the entire maintenance and engineering operation.
  • Prepares and administers the resort wide preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensures all preventative maintenance work orders, tasks, and service contracts are scheduled and accomplished in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinates resort-wide maintenance procurement transactions to ensure timely and economic procurement of maintenance materials.
  • Assists Director with monitoring input into the computerized maintenance system (CMMS).
  • Assists with creating the department budget and oversees expenditures and labor to meet department financial plan.
  • Assists with the training of the maintenance facility employees and ensures all assigned staff receives proper training and documentation.
  • Assists with inspecting maintenance work areas for health and safety regulation compliance.
  • Assists with compiling, evaluating, and disseminating all internally generated condition assessment deficiencies, environmental audits and safety audits.
  • Assists Director in compiling data for the Company’s annual and 3-year Capital Expense Account (CEA) project list. Assigns priorities to the CEA list for approval and implementation.
  • Ensures the department is complying with all company, federal laws and regulations regarding HAZMAT, HAZCOM, risk management, confined space, lockout-tagout, ergonomics, ADA access and vehicle use.
  • Complies with all company environmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversees all timekeeping, scheduling and meal break compliance in accordance with Xanterra policies and California labor laws.
