    We’re looking for an energetic and engaged Operations Manager with outstanding leadership, communication, and time management skills.

    This opportunity offers hands-on oversight everywhere.   You’ll deliver exceptional results and off-the-charts guest service as an Experience Ambassador, Housekeeper, Groundskeeper, and everything INN between.  As the leader of on-site operations, we’ll all turn to you when the going gets tough.

    🗓️  Overview


     

    We have fifteen rooms that range from 295 ft² to 1,475 ft².  Each is unique and each is accessed only by climbing exterior stairs.  Lots of stairs.  No pushing a cart down the hallway here – our buildings are stepped-INN to the hillside.

    We take lots of pride INN offering off-the charts Team and Guest experiences while keeping our building, grounds, and guestrooms INN tip-top shape.  Here’s where you come INN:


    Guests            

    You’ll work font desk shifts, and oversee the property-wide guest experience. 

    You’ll be INN direct contact with guests throughout their stay by phone, INN person, and by text.
          

    Housekeeping    

    You’ll collaborate with the Housekeeping Manager and help guide Team Clean. 

    You'll also help clean rooms, and tidy the grounds and landscape.

     

    Maintenance    

    Preventive and corrective.  If it ain’t broke, keep it that way.  If it is broke, fix it if you can. 

    If you can’t fix it, call INN for backup.

     

    Team

    Oversee and guide the Inn’s Team of INNkeepers

    to provide the best possible experience to our guests. 

     


    Guests & Team            

    You’ll be on-call after hours at least four nights per week.

     


    🎁  Compensation


     

    Temporary on-site housing is possible if you fly solo (sorry, no pets or families) with a light footprint and need a place to land on-island.  You’ll enjoy a private space (with your own washroom) and access to the shared living space, laundry, and kitchen right around the corner.  $27 hourly if you commit to and fulfill a minimum of six months, and you’re a top-performer.  Ideally, this role will start as or grow INNto a full-time, year ‘round salaried core team position.

     

     


    ✅  Must Haves


     

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Operations Manager or Senior Leader at a Hotel or Inn of similar size and service level
    • Valid driver’s license and San Juan County Food Handler’s Certificate (may obtain after hire) are required; CPR and First Aid certifications are great
       
    • This position is physically demanding and regularly requires the Operations Manager to be on their feet at least eight hours a day walking quickly up and down stairs most of the day.
       
    • The uncanny ability to be nice to everyone while demonstrating the right sense of urgency associated with completing projects and tasks with competing priorities
    • Genuine care and concern for our community, colleagues, guests, and planet
    • Savvy communication
    • Computer confidence for managing our online INNterfaces
    • Ambition to get it done yesterday
    • INNtuition that offers our Team and Guests next-level service
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • You’ll be moving around a lot, reaching, feeling, smelling and looking at details.  You’ll move 10 – 15 pound objects regularly and will move objects that may be up to 50 pounds frequently.
    • You may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts, all types of weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock

     


    👀  Focus

     


    You’ll be responsible for the Team Experience, Guest Experience,

    and overall condition of the Inn.  Here’s how that looks:

     

    • Actively participate INN all hotel operating functions – cleaning, fixing, welcoming, scheduling, ordering, guiding, assisting, and every other ‘ing’ as needed.
    • Prioritize, organize and work cohesively with minimal supervision while maintaining positivity and professionalism
    • Work as an Experience Ambassador at least three scheduled shifts per week and guide our team of INNkeepers as you collaborate to knock the socks off our guests
    • Handle all INNbound guest inquiries amazingly well – by phone, e-mail, online, or INN person
    • Keep tabs on accommodation status, group arrivals, VIPs, special events, guest arrival times, packages, upsells, and parking
    • Manage online INNventory and be the point person for our third-party channels
    • Be the go-to for event coordination and execution of any and all specials events hosted at or by the Inn
    • Collaborate with and fill-INN for the Housekeeping Manager to guide the daily work product and task assignment of Team Clean; coordinating room re_freshes, turns, guest requests, arrivals, and departures so that we deliver on our promise to every guest every stay
    • Conduct daily room and property INNspections to ensure top-notch Team performance while assisting with daily cleaning 
       
    • Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to enhance the guest and Team experience and efficiency
       
    • Manage the property maintenance schedule, deep clean schedule, and immediately resolve any and all urgent maintenance requests as needed
       
    • Understand, learn more about, and train others on the Inn’s Property Management software, text messaging platform, phone system, and other equipment like televisions, Rokus, DirecTV, HVAC, fireplaces, and the Inn’s computer network
    • Participate at least four nights per week in our ‘After Hours Ambassador’ program, being available “on-call” to our guests and Team during overnight periods and when the Welcome Room is closed
    • Be ready, willing, and able to work for the guest or someone who is, performing a variety of duties and tasks as needed, when needed
       
    • Implement and maintain practices and policies to keep our hotel as green and as safe as possible

     

    People

    • Resolve guest and Team concerns and questions professionally, diffusing any and all potential escalations, handling the tough concerns that others may have been unable to
    • Maintain a magnetic and engaging INNovative guest service culture
    • Host new INNkeeper on-boarding and ensure a great training experience
    • Help recruit, INNterview, on-board, and train new Team while recognizing ongoing Team efforts and hosting Team Building programs and gatherings
    • Facilitate Corrective Action for underperforming Team members
    • Guide all Team members, and keep track of who’s clocking-in, late or absent, dressed properly, calling off or replacing shifts
       
    • Coordinate breaks and schedules to maintain the Inn’s standards and a jovial work environment
       
    • Help reward and correct Team members; address complaints and resolve challenges
       
    • Collaborate with the Team to ensure a Hotel Operations Schedule that considers functional coverages, time off requests, special project oversight, and after hours coverage availability; you’ll personally fill INN any blanks
       
    • Schedule and manage maintenance contractors and vendors

    • Guide the daily work product and task assignment of Team Clean; coordinating room re_freshes, turns, guest requests, arrivals, and departures so that we deliver on our promise to every guest every stay
    • Conduct daily room and property INNspections to ensure top-notch Team performance 
    • Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and maintenance programs for Team Clean, enhancing the guest and Team experience and efficiency
    • Oversee the property maintenance schedule, deep clean schedule, and immediately resolve any and all urgent maintenance requests as needed
    • Understand, learn more about, and train others on the Inn’s Property Management software, text messaging platform, phone system, and other equipment like televisions, Rokus, DirecTV, HVAC, fireplaces, and the Inn’s computer network

    People

    Everyone's a housekeeper and everyone's an INNkeeper. 

    INN addition to cleaning, you must absolutely love stairs.  Seriously.  You can’t get anywhere INN our hotel without climbing lots of stairs.  Lots – of – stairs.  If you can clear that hurdle, you’ve got to be able to also regularly carry gear up and down those stairs.  Up to 25 lbs worth of gear:  duffels, ladders, laundry bags, laundry baskets, and more.  If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, need to read further.

    You’ll need to be at the ready to assist our guests.
           

    Cleaning   

    Your primary focus will be guestroom turns and refreshes.

    You'll also clean common spaces daily.

    Maintenance    

    Replace light bulbs and batteries, clean filters, wash windows. 

    Call-INN backup for more complex challenges.

         Grounds           

    You'll regularly tidy the exterior of the property and landscaping.

    After all, we won't get a second chance to make a first impression.
