The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch

Come live and work in the beautiful Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming at a small, upscale guest ranch with about 25 guests each week in Shell, Wyoming. Work together with a great team of friendly and welcoming staff who do their best to make our guests dreams come true.

Along with living on a spectacular guest ranch, your duties will be both challenging and rewarding. This is the perfect opportunity for a person who is passionate about food & people, creative, and shares a love of the great outdoors!

The Job

As our Kitchen Assistant, you will work closely with the Chef to create healthy, fresh, simple, upscale meals for our guests.  You should be able to multi-task while staying organized and detail-oriented.  You should take pride in assisting the Chef in making sure our food both looks and tastes amazing before it’s served to our valued guests.   We work as a team with the dining staff so it’s necessary to communicate effectively and assist fellow employees as needed. A culinary degree is not required, but the successful candidate will have kitchen experience and loves to create top-quality, scratch-made food.  Our Kitchen Assistant must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and be willing to take a leadership role in the Kitchen at times.

Age and Housing
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and willing to live on the ranch. Very nice housing (not bunkhouse living) is provided as part of our seasonal employment package.  You may share a house with mixed roommates, but will have your own bedroom with likely a shared bathroom. Housing includes land line phone, electric, water, trash and internet service.

Hours and Payment
Employees receive a monthly paycheck with the salary being established when a job offer is made based on your experience and background. An end of season bonus is paid upon successful completion of the term of employment.

Dates of Employment
This job has the potential to begin as early as the middle of March 2021 and can run through the middle of November 2021. For the correct applicant, this position has the potential to be a multi-season position.

The core of our culture is what we call The 3 C’s of Character, Conduct, and Competence. We can train someone for Competence, but the other two C’s (Character and Conduct) are inherent and tell a lot about a person based on how they behave and present themselves in all situations. Although we work hard, we also have a lot of fun. Our goal is to be the best. To help us achieve that goal, we try to pick the best staff possible and take care of them to the best of our abilities. Being part of our team will enrich your life experiences and create memories for both you and the guests we serve. Check out our ranch's reviews on Trip Advisor to get a feel for the impact you will make on others lives.

The goal of our staff and management is to make sure our guests have a fantastic time with positive lasting memories. We look for people who are willing to work hard; who operate equally well when working alone or as part of a team; who are honest, friendly, and enthusiastic and have a good sense of humor; who enjoy interacting with guests, and who get a great sense of satisfaction from providing excellent service to our guests. No drug use at all is allowed, and employees are subject to a random drug test on request by employers. No alcohol is to be consumed before or during workdays.
