  • Lift Operator

    Lift Operations
    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, California

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for dynamic and energetic Lift Operators to operate lifts in a safe and efficient manner.  Instruct guests on the proper way to ride a lift, assist guests on and off.  Work outside in all weather conditions. Frequent shoveling of work area.  Must be good with people, constant guest interaction involved.  Be able to take work seriously and have fun at the same time. On-the-job training and certification required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:           

    • Energetic, friendly and outgoing with strong customer service skills
    • Ability to work in a sometimes high stress, fast paced environment
    • Must consider courtesy and safety high priorities
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Must be able to pass certification course (training provided)
    • Hardy, resilient and must LOVE snow!

    DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Be ready to begin work each day at scheduled time (generally 8:15 am weekdays, 8:00 am weekends/holidays and 7:00 am on snow days).
    • Prepare loading and unloading areas; shovel snow, set signs, clean chairs, set lines, etc.
    • Routine check of all lift functions.
    • Shovel and/or rake work area as needed, keep area clean and organized.
    • Operate lift, assist guests onto/off of lift as needed.
    • Be willing and able to provide excellent customer service to all people at all times.
    • Act as a courtesy guide for our guests; be able to answer questions, handle small problems and provide general information.
    • Check and scan tickets as needed.
    • Complete daily records accurately. They are legal documents.

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for Food and Beverage Cashiers who will accurately tender food and beverage purchases at a cash register, provide proper change, and maintain a balanced drawer. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must have California Food Handlers Certification within 2 weeks of hire date.
    • Ability to transport to and from work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including walking in deep snow.
    • Flexible working hours.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain composure under pressure/high volume.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Background check.
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
    • Help shovel the deck and move picnic tables when needed.

    • Display accurate cash handling skills, perform daily sales and close procedures while following company and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Greet and assist guests as they approach the register.
    • Ring in proper payment with each transaction.
    • Assure payment is made for every item.
    • Keep bills, coins, receipts, and coupons neat and orderly (bills must face up).
    • Keep track of all voids, refunds, and over-rings with manager’s approval.
    • Maintain orderly operations and ensure enough cash is in drawer for making change at all times.
    • Maintain the cleanliness of immediate work station/area.
    • Stock fruit bins, cookie & candy baskets, beverage cooler, and chip stands.
    • Help with closing procedures – vacuuming, restocking, dishes, cleanliness of bathrooms, etc.

    • Be ready to begin work each weekday at 8:30 am, 8:15 on weekends and holidays (in the door time.)
    • Ensure and enforce that every guest riding the lift has a valid lift ticket, attached correctly.  Be accountable for replacement tickets checked out daily.
    • Greet every guest.
    • Scan all tickets and passes at designated lifts as directed by supervisor depending on crowd levels.
    • Act as a courtesy guide for our guests; be able to answer questions, handle small problems and provide general information.
    • Be willing and able to provide excellent customer service to all people at all times.
    • Manage crowd control of guests flowing through the loading area as directed.  Keep the maze lines tight and neat.

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for a Garage and Gondola Manager to manage the operation of the gondola and garage to facilitate the safe and effective transportation of passengers, belongings and freight.  Hire, train, motivate and discipline Gondola Operators and Garage Attendants.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    PRE-SEASON DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Interview, reference check and hire Gondola and Garage staff.
    • Review training programs to be used for pre-season as well as in-season training.
    • Conduct pre-season and in-season training of Gondola and Garage staff as often as needed.
    • Secure and maintain supplies and tools for the department.

     

    IN-SEASON DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Ensure Gondola and Garage staff are on the job on time, in uniform, observe all company policies and fulfill the job duties listed in their job description.
    • Schedule and outline daily duties for direct reports, Leads, Operators and Attendants.
    • Train and schedule Gondola and Garage job sharers.
    • Tour and maintenance of all operation facilities daily, i.e. cabins, terminals, all stairs, and garage.
    • Implement, enforce and audit cabin handling training compliance to ensure smooth operation.
    • Conduct safety meetings on a regular basis and follow-up on on-the-job injuries.
    • Respond to all gondola or garage related incidents and ensure that proper reports are completed.
    • Respond to all situations in need of guest relations.
    • Maintain close contact with Executive Director of Mountain Operations, Lift Maintenance Manager and Dispatch. Advise of problems, repairs, etc.
    • Must work closely with Village Services Manager and Hotel Manager.
    • Porter homeowners and hotel guests luggage and personal items between garage and gondola.
    • Assist guests load and unload cabins including personal belongings.
    • Familiarity with Sugar Bowl and ability to answer guest questions.
    • Snow removal in and around the gondola and garage buildings during and after storms.
    • Monitor staffing levels and expenses, staying in-line with the budgeted numbers.
    • Conduct safety meetings on a regular basis and follow-up on on-the-job injuries.
    • Assist with alternate transportation when needed (must be eligible per HR)
    • Oversee gratuity program.
    • Collect and maintain daily checklists and logs.

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for Support Staff for the Ski & Board School to ensure smooth implementation of indoor operations and guest facing operations.     QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Accounting degree or 5+ years’ experience in a high volume accounting environment

    • Responsible for the oversight of account receivables, including billing, collection and application of payments to homeowner accounts

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for qualified Ski & Board School Instructors to teach guests of all ages and abilities how to Ski and/or Snowboard appropriately based on the parameters of the lesson you are assigned to. Lessons should be taught safely, while maintaining a fun environment for them to learn in adherence to Sugar Bowl’s policies and in accordance with PSIA/AASI teaching methodology.  Be available for work on most weekends and all the holiday periods.  Certification is desired; however, we will train employees for their job requirements.
