  • Lift Operator

    Lift Operations
    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for dynamic and energetic Lift Operators to operate lifts in a safe and efficient manner.  Instruct guests on the proper way to ride a lift, assist guests on and off.  Work outside in all weather conditions. Frequent shoveling of the work area.  Must be good with people, constant guest interaction involved.  Be able to take work seriously and have fun at the same time. On-the-job training and certification required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:           

    • Energetic, friendly, and outgoing with strong customer service skills
    • Ability to work in a sometimes high stress, fast-paced environment
    • Must consider courtesy and safety high priorities
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Must be able to pass certification course (training provided)
    • Hardy, resilient and must LOVE snow!

    DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Be ready to begin work each day at the scheduled time (generally, 8:15 am weekdays, 8:00 am weekends/holidays and 7:00 am on snow days).
    • Prepare loading and unloading areas; shovel snow, set signs, clean chairs, set lines, etc.
    • A routine check of all lift functions.
    • Shovel and/or rake work area as needed, keep the area clean and organized.
    • Operate lift, assist guests onto/off of lift as needed.
    • Be willing and able to provide excellent customer service to all people at all times.
    • Act as a courtesy guide for our guests; be able to answer questions, handle small problems, and provide general information.
    • Check and scan tickets as needed.
    • Complete daily records accurately. They are legal documents.

  • Food & Beverage Cashier

    Food & Beverage
    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for Food and Beverage Cashiers who will accurately tender food and beverage purchases at a cash register, provide proper change, and maintain a balanced drawer. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must have California Food Handlers Certification within 2 weeks of hire date.
    • Ability to transport to and from work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including walking in deep snow.
    • Flexible working hours.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain composure under pressure/high volume.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Background check.
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
    • Help shovel the deck and move picnic tables when needed.

    DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Display accurate cash handling skills, perform daily sales and close procedures while following company and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Greet and assist guests as they approach the register.
    • Ring in proper payment with each transaction.
    • Assure payment is made for every item.
    • Keep bills, coins, receipts, and coupons neat and orderly (bills must face up).
    • Keep track of all voids, refunds, and over-rings with the manager’s approval.
    • Maintain orderly operations and ensure enough cash is in the drawer for making change at all times.
    • Maintain the cleanliness of the immediate work station/area.
    • Stock fruit bins, cookie & candy baskets, beverage cooler, and chip stands.
    • Help with closing procedures – vacuuming, restocking, dishes, cleanliness of bathrooms, etc.
    • Maintain a friendly, team spirit with a focus on guest service.           
    • Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
    • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.

  • Line Cook

    Food & Beverage
    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for skilled, dynamic line cooks who are able to assist in the production of menu items in food service outlets.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2 years in food and beverage operations
    • Basic knife skills
    • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment operations
    • Basic knowledge of proper sanitization procedures

    DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Stocking and rotation of food deliveries
    • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
    • Executing all proper food production/ storage/holding techniques
    • Ensuring that all necessary food prep item tasks are completed before service
    • Cleaning of kitchen production equipment RE: slicers
    • Maintaining a proper rapport with the front of the house/other departments/clientele
    • Servicing special/catered events when required
    • Maintaining proper conduct/grooming requirements
    • Assisting in the end of shift cleaning/ shutdown procedures
    • Assisting in set up and operation of outside/satellite foodservice operations

  • Gondola Operator

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for dynamic and energetic Gondola Operators to escort guests and their personal belongings to and from the garage loading dock.  Operation of gondola to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of passengers, belongings and freight.  Strong focus is placed on guest interaction and quality service as we strive to surpass all our guest’s needs and expectations.  While maintaining a professional image, you will be required to identify, show sensitivity and respond to our guests needs safely and promptly to ensure complete satisfaction to all our guests.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Energetic, friendly and outgoing with strong customer service skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to work in a sometimes high stress, fast paced environment
    • Must consider courtesy and safety high priorities
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Must be in good physical condition and able to lift 30 pounds

    • Greeting all guests and employees promptly and enthusiastically
    • Efficient gondola operation
    • Helping guests load and unload
    • Loading and unloading guests’ ski and snowboard gear
    • Maintenance of all areas of gondola building and gondola cabins
    • Assisting homeowners and hotel guests with luggage and personal items

    Lift Operations

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for dynamic and energetic Ski Lift Ticket Checkers to check guests for proper lift tickets and passes.  Work outside in all weather conditions.  Be able to take work seriously and have fun at the same time.

    QUALIFICATIONS:           

    • Energetic, friendly, and outgoing with strong customer service skills
    • Adaptability, refined problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work in a sometimes high stress, fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to work in all weather conditions ranging from very sunny to blizzard
    • Must consider courtesy and safety high priorities
    • Hardy, resilient and must LOVE snow!

    DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Be ready to begin work each weekday at 8:30 am, 8:15 on weekends and holidays (in the door time.)
    • Ensure and enforce that every guest riding the lift has a valid lift ticket, attached correctly.  Be accountable for replacement tickets checked out daily.
    • Greet every guest.
    • Scan all tickets and passes at designated lifts as directed by the supervisor depending on crowd levels.
    • Act as a courtesy guide for our guests; be able to answer questions, handle small problems and provide general information.
    • Be willing and able to provide excellent customer service to all people at all times.
    • Manage crowd control of guests flowing through the loading area as directed.  Keep the maze lines tight and neat.
    • Keep the area clean and organized. Shovel as needed.

  • Ski & Board School Instructor

    Ski & Board School
    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is looking for qualified Ski & Board School Instructors to teach guests of all ages and abilities how to Ski and/or Snowboard appropriately based on the parameters of the lesson you are assigned to. Lessons should be taught safely, while maintaining a fun environment for them to learn in adherence to Sugar Bowl’s policies and in accordance with PSIA/AASI teaching methodology.  Be available for work on most weekends and all the holiday periods.  Certification is desired; however, we will train employees for their job requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to safely and appropriately Ski/Ride around the resort
    • Ability to work weekends and holidays
    • Organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to understand and comply with company/departmental policies and procedures
    • Ability to work with other departments and maintain positive relationships
    • Ability to build positive quick connections with people
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to assess and manage potential risk to self and others while navigating an alpine environment
    • Strong desire to provide positive guest service
    • Drive to develop and improve on the job
    • Work in an alpine winter environment which will include snow and inclement weather
    • PSIA/AASI certification (or equivalent)
    • Experience in a teaching role
    • Understanding of teaching methodology and mechanics in the relevant sports

    • Endeavor to provide a positive resort-wide guest experience
    • Understand and comply with policy and procedure guidelines
    • Meet departmental goals; NPS and Safety
    • Teach lessons
    • Successful time management; starting shift on time, attending lesson line ups on time, etc.

    • Work with SBS leadership team regarding availability and any other relevant needs
