Steamboat Springs is a real Colorado mountain town that is home to a world-class ski resort known around the globe for it's champagne powder snow. Steamboat Springs Transit is looking to fill bus driver positions for the upcoming winter ski season with reliable safe drivers.
Our paid training class will begin on October 18th, 2017. The 4 week - 160-hour training class is designed to help anyone obtain their Colorado CDL Class B driver's license. We will pay you $11.75 an hour to attend the CDL class. Once you successfully obtain your CDL, you can apply for the seasonal bus driver position that pays $17.36 an hour. Steamboat Springs Transit also offers an extra $1.00 an hour to all shifts that run significantly past midnight.
The working week is 37-40 hours made up of 4 & 5 day work weeks. The newer bus drivers usually work weekends & nights. The bus service runs from 5:30 am to 3:30 am daily.
Our bus drivers are responsible for safely operating a public transportation bus for transporting passengers on a prescribed route, on time and in accordance with local, state and federal standards. Our drivers must practice safe defensive driving techniques, be knowledgeable of the area, provide guests with schedule/route information, assist disabled guest on and off the bus, and complete reports of all accidents, damage, or incidents of vandalism. Our bus drivers will also be assigned to bus wash duties as part of their normal working shift.

- An acceptable driving record, with no alcohol or drug related convictions in the last 7 years.
- A current valid driver's license.
- A clean background check.
- An ability to commit to the entire season; mid-October to mid-April.
- The ability to pass all DOT CDL requirements including medical screening, random drug testing, and licensing requirements.
Steamboat Springs Transit will offer a bonus paid at the end of the ski season to those who work the entire season. An early sign on bonus for those who sign up before September 29, 2017. Employee housing will be offered in a first come first serve fashion and rental rates will vary. All city of Steamboat Springs employees have free access to Howelsen Hill Ski area, and the ability to sign up for use of the Ski medallions to gain free access to the Steamboat Springs Ski Area (limited availability).
