As a Space Camp Counselor, you'll get a job that immerses you in STEM education with astronauts, rockets, space travel simulators, and individuals who share your passion for exploration. This opportunity will be more than just a few lines on your resume – it’s a community, a culture, and an out-of-this-world leadership experience!

Space Camp is interested in energetic and extraordinary individuals to guide students and adults through the history of the space program, the steps to building their own rockets, and the pathway to leading a simulated Space Shuttle mission. Through extensive training, we give you the tools to inspire yourself and others! No previous Space knowledge required.

Free onsite housing and meals are available to our Resident Assistants, so with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center as your home base, the entire southeast region is waiting to be explored. Compensation is $11.50 an hour for those that have open availability, pay is slightly reduced for those that are only able to work the day or evening shift.

Education:  20 hours completed college credit.  Life and professional experience may substitute for educational requirements.  

Experience:  Experience working with children (e.g. coaching, tutoring, teaching) desired or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous experience in a similar educational, instructional camp, military experience, summer camping, and/or space exploration work environment a definite plus.  Must possess excellent communication and instructional skills to instruct and teach others. Must always present oneself as a positive role model and exhibit strong leadership skills.

Other Special Requirements:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age - Exemptions may be made based on leadership experience
  • Ability to adapt to required dress code, e.g. no visible tattoos (must be covered while working) 
  • Must pass drug test, complete Affidavit of Good Moral Character, clear the State Central Registry on Child Abuse/Neglect upon employment, and other tests and background checks required by management
