About Southeast Exposure
OAC was established in September 2003 as the perfect permanent home for Southeast Exposure. The 5 acre property includes waterfront sea kayaking access, a boathouse, pier, dock, driveways, rest rooms, employee housing and an ever evolving ropes and zipline challenge course with a climbing tower.
We do five tours: Tatoosh Islands Sea Kayaking, Eagle Island Sea Kayaking-both single and double, Clover Pass Bike, Rainforest Ropes and Zipline Challenge. We do all kayak, bike, and ropes course training here at OAC with our own trainers. We require you to arrive with an eight hour certification in Advanced First Aid and CPR at minimum, (no online certifications) and you must be 21 or older.
Guides participate in an intensive one week in house training for all tours. You should be an athlete and come with guiding experience in at least one of our three areas. We have many returning guides each year; a good number of them are local Ketchikan people.
Our trips range from 3 hrs to 4 ½ hours for the guests, but for you, you work 2-4 trips per day back to back, and you will spend 2-2 ¼ hours with each group of guests. You will not be bored!
Season is from May 2 - September 26. We are flexible in these dates for some people. But our core group of guides arrive just before the season starts. These guides are paid during the training and according to their skill level, apparent leadership ability, commitment to the entire season. We hope that you will become a part of this core group!
We are looking for energetic, personable, patient, outgoing, adventurous, brave, assertive, and physical fit individuals.
