    Tour guides lead groups of visitors through points of historical, cultural or regional interest. They provide in-depth knowledge about destinations frequented by tourists, vacationers and students.

    Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa is looking for experienced Hiker/Guide that can safely and knowledgeably guide guests thru local routes.

    Ideal candidate is knowledgeable about the area or has visited and spent time in/or around Moab. Has experience in guiding Individuals and groups. Our Guests at Sorrel may include private guides. We encourage our guides to focus on interpreting geography, local history,native american history, and flora and fauna.

  • Permaculturist-Organic Gardener

    The garden department at Sorrel River Ranch is looking for a seasonal gardener from March to November 2018. We are looking for long term candidates who would ideally work with us for 2 or more seasons. Our department maintains an event garden, indoor microgreens growing space, and a 1.75 acre vegetable garden. This year we are increasing our compost, biochar and worm castings production; and starting mushroom cultivation and hydroponics.

    The work varies day to day. Part of the work day is general maintenance - watering, monitoring irrigation systems, keeping areas clean, pruned, raked and weeded, moving compost and mulch, fixing low tunnels, feeding and watering worms, preventative IPM practices etc. The other part is projects -- starting seeds, propagation from cuttings, building garden infrastructure (trellises, compost tea system, planter boxes etc) transplanting, sheet mulching, amending beds, setting up irrigation in new zones, planting trees etc.

    As team members of the resort we are sometimes needed to help in other departments or with events. The garden provides a guest experience at the resort. Organization, cleanliness, and presentation of our growing spaces is top priority. This often involves sweeping, mopping, taking out the trash, moving furniture, cleaning windows and dusting in indoor grow spaces.

    We are looking for a well-rounded and passionate individual. The ideal candidate is:Experienced gardener or farmhand (2 seasons minimum), Experienced with permaculture and soil building practices. An effective problem solver, a team player, positive, friendly, service-oriented , dedicated, detail-oriented, passionate about agriculture and protecting the environment and ambitious/focused

Must be able to lift up to 35 Lbs, and bending, stooping and reaching are constant working conditions. Previous hotel housekeeping experience in a fast paced work environment is required, strong ability to multitask, and detail oriented. Must be able to complete 10-12 rooms per day.     The Accountant has primary responsibility for the operational areas of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Accountant also completes month end close and other accounting tasks. Participates in the creation of the annual budget.

     

    Essential Functions: 

    ACCOUNTS PAYABLE  

     

    • Prepares check requests and route for approval 
    • Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
    • Determines appropriate general ledger coding for invoices 
    • Enters invoiced amounts as receipts on purchase orders 
    • Enters invoices into M3 accounting software 
    • Prepares and processes check runs and electronic payments 
    • Obtains all signatures for payments and distribute checks to payees 
    • Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices 
    • Researches and resolves invoice discrepancies and issues 
    • Corresponds with vendors and respond to inquiries 
    • Obtains and enters vendor W-9 information and performs 1099 reporting. 

     

    ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE 

    • Prepares invoices for some funders, receives other invoices from accountants, enters all invoices in accounting system, and submits invoices to funders 
    • Reviews checks and check logs, matches to accounts receivable, prepares journal entries to post payments to customer accounts 
    • Monitors receivables for timely payment, prepares reports on delinquent accounts. 

     

    PAYROLL 

    • Collects and reviews time and labor distribution data for payroll processing 
    • Establishes and maintains electronic time sheet system with accurate labor distribution codes; 
    • Performs timely and accurate processing of payroll
    • Prepares and verifies wage & salary information and employment data for accuracy and compliance; 
    • Processes payroll changes due to personnel actions: promotions, transfers, adjustments or separations; 
    • Collects and enters deduction changes for taxes, insurance, garnishments, etc.; 
    • Calculates and enters hours of PTO
    • Maintains records of accumulation & annual use; 
    • Prepares and posts all entries from payroll to general ledger 

     

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Two year degree preferred or two to four years experience in accounting
    • Thorough knowledge of accounts payable systems and procedures 
    • Thorough knowledge of methods and processes used for payroll, payroll tax and with holdings 
    • Working knowledge of employment practices and labor laws

    Our Food and Beverage Manager must have a “hands-on” approach and is responsible for directing and administering all front of house Food & Beverage operations. This position will oversee the service staff, dining room attendants, hosts, in-room dining, and banqueted events and will be held accountable for maintaining established costs and quality standards. This role must organize and deliver effortless and seamless movement of guests in and out of the food and beverage outlets and provide exceptional levels of guest service throughout the guests’ food and beverage experiences. The Food and Beverage Manager will participate in total hotel management as a member of the hotel Executive Committee and reports directly to General Manager on F&B development and concepting and the Director of Operations for day to day operational efforts. 
    Job Description
    As a Food and Beverage Manager, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
    Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures consistent with select Forbes and AAA 4-5 Star/Diamond Service standards.
    Lead, direct and administer all front of house Food and Beverage operations to include, but not limited to, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, guest satisfaction, and policy/procedure implementation and enforcement.
    Exhibit strong interdepartmental communication and develop positive working relationships with the management team and line level staff throughout all departments.
    Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling, staff evaluations and promoting employee recognition programs.
    Recruit, interview and train team members in a manner consistent with property specific Forbes and AAA 4-5 Star/Diamond Service standards. 
    Work with the Chefs and culinary team to consistently deliver outstanding food and service with a dedicated emphasis on our Farm to Table restaurant concept.
    Engage service staff in training on steps of service, wine knowledge, and education on the farm to table seasonal ingredients and menu attributes.
    Act as on-floor management support during busy serving periods and “touch” guest tables to ensure satisfaction.
    This position may be required to expedite, serve, bus, host, dish wash, cook, or complete any other job functions within the F&B department as business demands dictate. 
    Support and enforce all hotel operating policies and procedures.
    Maintain warm and hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.
    Be fully versed in all positions contained within the Food and Beverage department.
    Act as an on-property MOD and participate in the shared responsibilities of the MOD program. 
    Assess guest challenges and take proper, prompt, and effective corrective action to ensure the best possible satisfaction of our guests while ensuring financial viability for the company.
    Ensure the proper handling and greeting of all VIP and Special Attention Guests. 
    Actively promote a workplace culture that anticipates guest needs and exceeds guest expectations.
    Responsible for maximizing departmental profit and preparing an annual F&B budget in coordination with the Chef and General Manager.
    Be completely knowledgeable with respect to all hotel facilities.
    Maintain par levels for office and operating supplies. Re-order supplies on a pertinent need basis in order to achieve effective inventory and cost controls while avoiding shortages.
    Performs other tasks as assigned by Ownership and Senior Management.
    Job Requirements
    Forbes and/or AAA 4-5 Star/Diamond Hotel/Resort experience in Front Office and/or Rooms Division Management.
    Exceptional oral and written communication skills. 
    Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, driven to provide outstanding guest service.
    Professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude. 
    Strong financial acumen.
    Proven track record of training and developing strong Teams.
    Minimum of 3 years Food and Beverage leadership experience in a luxury Hotel or related industry. 
    Experience with POS systems- Micros knowledge is a plus.
