    Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa is looking for experienced Hiker/Guide that can safely and knowledgeably guide guests thru local routes.

    Ideal candidate is knowledgeable about the area or has visited and spent time in/or around Moab. Has experience in guiding Individuals and groups. Our Guests at Sorrel may include private guides. We encourage our guides to focus on interpreting geography, local history,native american history, and flora and fauna.

    The garden department at Sorrel River Ranch is looking for a seasonal gardener from March to November 2018. We are looking for long term candidates who would ideally work with us for 2 or more seasons. Our department maintains an event garden, indoor microgreens growing space, and a 1.75 acre vegetable garden. This year we are increasing our compost, biochar and worm castings production; and starting mushroom cultivation and hydroponics.

    The work varies day to day. Part of the work day is general maintenance - watering, monitoring irrigation systems, keeping areas clean, pruned, raked and weeded, moving compost and mulch, fixing low tunnels, feeding and watering worms, preventative IPM practices etc. The other part is projects -- starting seeds, propagation from cuttings, building garden infrastructure (trellises, compost tea system, planter boxes etc) transplanting, sheet mulching, amending beds, setting up irrigation in new zones, planting trees etc.

    As team members of the resort we are sometimes needed to help in other departments or with events. The garden provides a guest experience at the resort. Organization, cleanliness, and presentation of our growing spaces is top priority. This often involves sweeping, mopping, taking out the trash, moving furniture, cleaning windows and dusting in indoor grow spaces.

    We are looking for a well-rounded and passionate individual. The ideal candidate is:Experienced gardener or farmhand (2 seasons minimum), Experienced with permaculture and soil building practices. An effective problem solver, a team player, positive, friendly, service-oriented , dedicated, detail-oriented, passionate about agriculture and protecting the environment and ambitious/focused

    As a Guest Services Manager, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures consistent with select Forbes and AAA 4-5 Star/Diamond Service standards.
    • Responsible for weekly scheduling of all Front Office Staff
    • Lead, direct and administer all Front Office operations to include, but not limited to, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, guest satisfaction, and policy/procedure implementation and enforcement.
    • Exhibit strong interdepartmental communication and develop positive working relationships with the management team and line level staff throughout all departments.
    • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling, staff evaluations and promoting employee recognition programs.
    • Recruit, interview and train team members in a manner consistent with property specific Forbes and AAA 4-5 Star/Diamond Service standards.
    • Support and enforce all hotel operating policies and procedures.
    • Maintain warm and hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.
    • Be fully versed in all positions contained within the Front Office/Guest Services department.
    • Assess guest challenges and take proper, prompt, and effective corrective action to ensure the best possible satisfaction of our guests while ensuring financial viability for the company.
    • Ensure the proper handling and greeting of all VIP and Special Attention Guests. Ensure all special guest services requests are met prior to their arrival.
    • Actively promote a workplace culture that anticipates guest needs and exceeds guest expectations.
    • Work in conjunction with the Housekeeping & Maintenance departments to implement an effective guest room preventative maintenance schedule.
    • Be completely knowledgeable with respect to all hotel facilities.
    • Authorize all guest services related purchases, paid outs, rebates, and direct bills to ensure consistent accounting controls are in place to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
    • Maintain par levels for office and retail supplies. Re-order supplies on a pertinent need basis in order to achieve effective inventory and cost controls while avoiding shortages.
    • Endeavor continuously to maximize hotel occupancy, total revenue, and average transient rate. Emphasize any incentive programs to all staff and ensure Guests are offered hotel services first and foremost.
    • Act as Manager on Duty when selected for shift.
    • Manage the daily loss prevention initiatives within the hotel ensuring both guest and team member safety and security.
    • Be fully fluent in Property Management System operation, ensuring proper training and hotel operation
    • Process daily credit card batches from PMS and POS systems, ensuring accuracy.
    • Complete or oversee completion of daily accounting report
    • Scheduling and leading regular meetings ensuring proper Front Office communication and development
    • Process Front Office, Activities, and Spa Payroll.  Including correcting time clock exceptions, processing Service Charges, Commissions, and additional Gratuities.
    • Develop strong local knowledge in order to properly train Guest Service and Concierge Staff
    • Lead a weekly guided on-site hike
    • Prepare a weekly Pace Report for Revenue Management

    Responsibilities

     

    • Identify staffing needs by department with General Manager and Departmental Managers
    • Network regionally via SHRM network/Human Resource Association of Central Utah
    • Recruit by attending local and regional job fairs
    • Assume orientation and onboarding activities
    • Build relationships with local employment agencies and community co-ops

    • In conjunction with the General Manager, create an employee housing “points system” based upon positional merit and consecutive tenure (applies only when housing units become available)
    • Implement “training academy” for all new hires, current staff refresh courses on an annual basis.

    Our maintenance technicians perform a variety of duties related to the smooth upkeep of the interior and exterior of the ranch operation.  This may include plumbing, carpentry, HVAC work, working with pumps, light electrical, cleaning, moving equipment, light mechanical, preventative maintenance on vehicles and grounds equipment, drywall repair, painting, grounds work and other additional assigned duties.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Plumbing:  includes the repair, replacement, and installation of faucets, pipes, hot water tanks, toilets, garbage disposals, and kitchen appliances

    Electrical: includes the repair, replacement, and installation of power switches, fuses, wall sockets, ceiling fans and climate control systems

    General carpentry: Assisting with the repairing of floors, roofs, and doors and installation of new products as needed.  This could include windows, carpets, light fixtures and drywall repairs

    Requirements:

    • HS diploma or GED
    • Certification from a technical/trade school a plus
    • 3 – 5 years related experience within a luxury hotel environment or facilities maintenance capacity

    We are looking for a reliable Water Treatment Plant Operator (I, II or III) to oversee our water treatment plant.  You will work under the direction of our Director of Facilities.

    Requirements & Responsibilities

    • Requires Utah unrestricted treatment systems operator certification from the state of Utah which must be obtained and maintained thereafter.
    • Must possess valid Utah driver’s license
    • Willingness to work shift work and be on-call.
    • Monitor & evaluate facility equipment controls and operational processes.
    • Monitor remote pump station operations, maintaining membrane filtering process, screening equipment, watering operations, chemical treatment, monitoring and evaluation of biological processes and disinfection systems.
    • Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities
    • Test condenser loops weekly, log results
    • Test closed water systems monthly, log results
    • Record keeping of test results
    • Monitor web-based water treatment system
    • Comply with OSHA regulations for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and chemical handling
    • Tower blow down Meter checking monthly by service provider for accuracy and sewer credits applied (where applicable)
    • Conduct annual certification training for Facilities personnel for water testing and treatment
    • Follow recommendations to help prevent the spread of Legionnaire’s Disease.
    • Monitor water treatment recording program for the chiller package
    • Test water systems daily (and monthly where appropriate), log results
    • Trouble shoot issues and fix problem
    • Knowledge of technical treatment plant equipment and machinery; it’s operation, maintenance and repair, plant processes; hazards and precautions associated with plant operations; laboratory procedures and the chemical and physical process involved in wastewater treatment.
    • Ability to understand and interpret laboratory data derived from wastewater samples; make appropriate decisions in emergency situations
    • Interpret and apply laws governing wastewater treatment; communicating effectively both verbal and written
    • Maintains accurate operating records
    • Must pass alcohol and drug test.
