Discover a superior four-star mountain experience at the Snowpine Lodge. Positioned at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon and nestled in Utah’s Wasatch mountains, the Snowpine Lodge shares the mountain with Alta Ski Resort, offering unrivaled access to the world’s best mountain recreation.
In the heart of Utah's Wasatch Range, Snowpine Lodge is at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Alta, Utah. We are a 45 minute drive from the Salt Lake City airport. At the base of the canyon are the SLC suburbs of Sandy and Cottonwood Heights, where seasonal housing rentals can be found.
About The Snowpine Lodge
Snowpine Lodge is both Alta’s newest and oldest building. The original rock structure was erected when mining was the primary industry within the Albion Basin, and we are proud to display this same rock wall – still intact – in several places within our beautiful Lodge. After a complete rebuild, Snowpine Lodge reopened its doors January of 2019, with the mission to reflect the charm of times past while embodying the tasteful elegance found in the best Ski Lodges across the globe.
Guests can expect to enjoy amenities fit to match the renowned Utah Mountains, including lavish hot tubs and a swimming pool overlooking the stunning scenery, a fully-stocked game room complete with a pool table, movie theatre, and iconic arcade games sure to stoke nostalgia. Offering unmatched ski-in/ski-out access to Alta Ski Resort, guests can rejuvenate after a long day in our world-class spa named after the pioneering Stillwell family, and finally join us for a meal in Swen’s Restaurant or The Gulch Pub for the finest in American Cuisine, wines, and spirits. Swen’s Restaurant is another nod to the rich woven history of Snowpine Lodge and Alta; but you’ll have to ask us the story when you arrive.
With over 10,000 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor event space, 54 luxurious guest rooms, 14 deluxe dorm beds, plush amenities and convenient slope-side location, Snowpine Lodge is set apart from all other offerings in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We are the premier choice for weddings, corporate retreats, family reunions, weekend getaways, or a dream ski vacation.

Getting Here and Getting Around
Just 45 minutes away from the Salt Lake International Airport, it is easy to access the lodge no matter where you are coming from. We may be able to arrange a shuttle from the airport if ample notice is provided prior to your arrival. During ski season (November to April), UTA Transit Ski Buses run from the base of the canyon up to Alta and back several times a day. These buses connect to Salt Lake City's transit system, and rides are included with your Alta Season pass. Once you arrive, it is easy to get around Alta on foot (or skis) or take the bus down into the valley.
Due to heavy snowfall, frequent road closures, limited parking, and unpredictable winter driving conditions, we don’t recommend bringing your car. If you do drive to Utah, please be advised that driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon can be challenging. Every vehicle accessing the canyon from November through May is required to either be equipped with chains or have four-wheel drive with snow tires.
Little Cottonwood Canyon is home to incredible views and premier year-round mountain recreation! In the winter, the skiing can't be beat, as Alta is home to some of Utah's most spectacular terrain, offering groomed trails for the beginners and tons of backcountry access for the experts. Snowboarding at Snowbird, cross county skiing, and snowshoeing are other favorite winter activites. Summer activities include camping, hiking, biking, and rock climbing.
We are also located a short drive into Salt Lake City, where there are endless things to do and places to explore. Salt Lake City is home to a thriving arts scene, award-winning restaurants, beautiful urban parks, and plenty of concerts, festivals, and events year round.
