We are seeking applicants for a kennel help + a guiding position at our tour company, Snow Buddy Dog Sled Tours. You will also be expected to help one day a week with guest shuttles. A clean driving record and experience driving in the snow are required. This is a live-in position and requires a full-time commitment. All new hires will report to the kennel for work no later than Tuesday, November 10th and will commit to working through April.
We operate in the backcountry in Routt National Forest about 45 southwest of Steamboat Springs, CO, and 90 minutes North of Vail, CO.
We take a tremendous amount of pride in the quality of the experience we have provided our guests over the last 8 years. Coming into our 9th season, we are excited to continue to offer a preeminent and authentic mushing experience to all of our guests, young and old. Guests have the opportunity to learn to mush a dog team of their own with trail support or to have an all guided experience. We cater to each person's expectations and comfort level. All trips are small and personal both for safety and to maintain the integrity of the experience. Our company culture is based on safety, fun, and learning. We are 100% in the service of every person who comes to meet us and our family of dogs. We serve with integrity, honesty, and consistency. The first trip of the season is as wonderful as the last.
Again, this is a live-in position. In exchange for room, you will help maintain the kennel, assisting with chores and maintenance 5-6 days a week. The guiding position is paid, once you are trained in our program. Room and board are provided during training but you will not be paid until you are trained. Pay is per tour at a base rate that works out to about $15/hour.
The season kicks off officially around Thanksgiving and ends late April depending on snow levels. There is potential for the position to extend through the summer months. We provide basic room, dinner once a week and lunch every day you work. Each staff member will be expected to be available for work 6 days a week either on the trail or at the kennel (skiers and riders need not apply). We prefer some experience in our field, more is better, but we will train the right person with the right attitude.
Come play in the snow with us, our guests, and all our beautiful dogs!
