Signal Mountain Lodge is located right on the shores of Jackson Lake in the heart of Grand Teton National Park and offers one of the most unique employee experiences the seasonal circuit has to offer.
About Signal Mountain Lodge
Signal Mountain Lodge is a small, privately-owned company with ample opportunity for the seasonal worker. Our seasonal operation for 2020 includes guest lodging, retail shops, a marina and a campground. We also operate Lizard Creek Campground just north of our main property. At the peak of our season this summer we will have a staff size of 70 - the perfect size, in our opinion. Being part of a smaller staff means that upper management will know your name, strangers will quickly become new friends, and you'll have time and space to yourself whenever you need it.
Here at SML, we're highly focused on the environmental preservation of Grand Teton National Park and our planet. In 1990, a staff-led initiative to recycle aluminum cans at Signal Mountain Lodge took shape and became the spark that lead to the "greening" of our operations. You could say the rest is history. We were the first National Park concessionaire (and business west of the Mississippi) to become Green Seal Certified and are 3-Star Certified by the Green Restaurant Association - we even compost! The Employee Experience

With endless opportunities for outdoor adventures, a quality Employee Dining Room and managers who truly care about your success, it’s no wonder we have a staff return rate of 50% year after year. As a seasonal employer, Signal Mountain Lodge has it all. Your job, housing, meals, recreation, and administrative support are all right here. Your living expenses are minimal and your opportunities for adventure are boundless. At SML, we like to say that our staff are our #1 guests - and we mean it. We believe that staff satisfaction is the most important factor in our overall success as a business and, therefore, we invest in it accordingly. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and fulfilling environment for our staff so that they are able do their best at work as well as maximize on their opportunities to explore while off the clock. In that spirit, we offer clean, modern housing, plenty of delicious food in our Employee Dining Room, and two consecutive days off every week.
Our 2020 summer season will run from early June until mid-October. Applicants with the longest dates of availability will be given first consideration, but we do offer a limited number of opportunities for those with shorter dates of availability. We look for applicants with experience in retail, food services, and the hotel industry, but a genuine and enthusiastic desire to work with the public may also get you top consideration in our hiring process.
Here at Signal Mountain Lodge, there is very little separation between work and home. Your fellow staff members will quickly become your closest companions while on and off the clock. For this reason, it's imperative that our staff be flexible, communicative, emotionally mature, and able to solve interpersonal problems effectively. It's also important that our staff are able and motivated to take time for themselves when needed.

Room and Board
HOUSING AND MEALS ARE INCLUDED FOR EVERY POSITION
Our modern, college-style staff dormitories are clean, comfortable and only a 5-minute walk from work! Normally, each staff member will share a dorm room and private bathroom with one other person. However, in accordance with the CDC's current guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, all staff will have their own rooms for 2020. We also have a limited number of employee RV spots. Laundry facilities are provided free of charge. No pets are allowed in the dormitories.
Quality is of the highest concern when it comes to the food our staff eat. You can expect a menu and recipes that are constantly changing, fresh and local ingredients whenever possible, and staff that aim to please! Located just a 5-minute walk from the staff housing area, the Employee Dining Room serves three hot meals per day and offers self-serve snacks and beverages in between mealtimes. We offer a vegetarian option with every meal and try our best to cater to specific dietary needs.
Dorm Rooms: $99.00 per person, per week
RV Spaces: $70.00 per person, per week
Room and board charges are taken as a payroll deduction every other Friday.

Getting Here and Getting Around
About 40% of our staff get here via plane, bus, or some combination thereof...
PLANE: The nearest airport, Jackson Hole (JAC), is located inside the park about 30 minutes from Signal Mountain Lodge. We are happy to pick you up at the Jackson Hole Airport if you notify us in advance. This is the most convenient option if you don't have your own car, but it can be expensive as it's a small, regional airport. Past staff have sometimes found it's cheaper to fly into Salt Lake City and then catch a bus to Jackson. Keep in mind, this option makes for longer travel time.
BUS: There are two bus companies that serve the town of Jackson: The Salt Lake Express (www.saltlakeexpress.com) and Mountain States Express (www.mountainstatesexpress.com). There are drop-off locations at the Jackson Hole Airport as well as at the Albertsons grocery store and Maverick gas station in Jackson. We are happy to pick you up at any of these locations as well.
CAR: The majority of our staff bring their own vehicles. We have parking for employee vehicles in the staff housing area, though spaces are often limited.
Once you're here, you don't need a vehicle on a day-to-day basis. The staff dormitories are just a 5-minute walk from most of the guest services and work areas as well as from the EDR. That being said, exploring the area and going adventuring are certainly easier to do when you have your own transportation.
ACTIVITIES AND EXCURSIONS
In addition to discounts and free recreational opportunities on property and in the area, our HR department organizes staff activities and excursions throughout the summer - many are free of charge! The COVID-19 pandemic has limited us in what activities and excursions we are able to offer. However, here are a few things you can still look forward to as a member of our seasonal summer staff:
