Welcome to the Shaw General Store! We are going on our 101st year as a true independent, family owned business. Our business is rooted in community service, a welcoming spirit, and working hard, all while having a blast!
The summer season here runs from mid May to mid September but start and end dates can be flexible for the right fit. Our charming store and our sister business, Captain's Taproom are the only brick-and-mortar businesses on the island.
Our "downtown" lives in one spot; we are the coffee shop, gathering spot, artisan market, grocery store, pizza parlor, music venue, and ice cream stop. Seeking crew members who are adaptable, friendly, motivated, and who are okay embracing a bit of light-hearted chaos. We believe all skills can be taught. No experience is required besides a willingness to learn and enthusiasm. Ideal applicants are over 21 (for alcohol sales) and do not need any extended periods of time off during the season.
