Sequoia Parks Conservancy is currently seeking a reliable, professional, and conscientious person to join our team as a Field Institute Naturalist. The Naturalists provide educational programs for the public, which include Crystal Cave tours, school educational programs, guided hikes, and astronomy programs. Naturalists may also sell Conservancy merchandise, Cave tour tickets, and memberships, and provide park information and services in the Park Visitor Centers.

This position can be physically demanding, and Naturalists are required to be able to walk a half-mile steep grade on uneven surfaces within 20 minutes, multiple times daily, and under various weather and air quality conditions. Naturalists must be able to carry a loaded daypack on the trails and assist with moving heavy inventory, such as telescopes.

This position works primarily outdoors.

To be successful in this role, you must work well with your coworkers, the public, and agency partners.

Starting Salary: $16.00 per hour

Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Salary Range: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour

Shift:

  • 10-hour shift / 4 days a week
  • Day shift
  • The full season is expected to be May 8 through December 3, 2023

Weekly day range:

Thursday through Monday

Requirements:

  • Minimum availability May 21 through November 1, 2023, to be eligible for hire
  • Must have valid First-Aid, CPR, and AED certifications,
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be willing to live inside the park

Must be able to work in a physically demanding NON-ADA compliant job site
