Description of Establishment:

The Schooner Stephen Taber operates 3, 4 and 6-day sailing vacations off the coast of Maine. We carry 22 passengers at a time with 5 crew, sailing out of Rockland, Maine. The Stephen Taber is a well-known but rustic adventure travel destination with a well-deserved reputation for excellent hospitality and cuisine.

Type of Cuisine: 

Taber cuisine features hardy, family-style meals cooked on a wood stove, featuring freshly baked breads, roasts, homemade stews, chowders and fresh local seafood. Family-style means there is no menu: meals are planned and prepared for the entire ship’s company, but this does not mean they need to be plain or basic. The Taber is known for opulent cheese and charcuterie, thoughtful wine pairings, and our enthusiastic hosting style.

Duties:

Don’t want to be stuck on the line? Windjamming is a great adventure, and our guests will love you. Chef Duties: menu planning, provisioning, prepare and serve all meals (breakfast, lunch, hors d’oevres, dinner). This job involves a great deal of creative latitude and is physically demanding. You will have a dedicated assistant: sous/steward. Sailing experience not necessary but if you want to learn, why not do it on one of America’s most famous tall ships?
