Rosario Resort & Spa is located on beautiful Orcas Island- home to small farms and artist enclaves and often referred to as "the gem of the San Juan Islands". Most arrive by state ferry - a quick hour long ride from Anacortes, a port city just 2 hours north of Seattle, WA. Orcas Island sees long, warm temperate days during the summer with a shift into relatively mild, dry weather in the winter.
About Rosario Resort & Spa
Comfortable San Juan Islands vacation accommodations are provided along the waterfront near the resort's centerpiece, the historic Moran Mansion. The Mansion's hillside location above Rosario's Marina overlooks a stunning panorama of forested mountains and pristine shorelines. Built between 1906-1909 by Seattle mayor and shipbuilder Robert Moran, the Moran Mansion is listed on the National Historic Register and houses the resort's Mansion Dining Room, Moran Lounge, Bay Boutique, Moran Museum, and The Spa.
We are currently accepting applications for 2023 seasonal positions, with start dates running from March-June and end dates running from September-October; however, some positions may have potential for year round employment.
Rosario Resort & Spa is a member of the Historic Hotels of America and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Employee Experience
The height of our season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year, although we are open 7 days per week all year round. Staff lives together in affordable shared housing provided by the resort. Options include dormitory-style housing either a stone's throw away from the nearby State Park or within walking distance from the local town, directly on the water's edge.
Employees are welcome to take advantage of many provided perks, including discounts on retail, dining and spa memberships. Throughout the years, countless seasonal staff have ultimately found a home here on the island, as year-round employment is often an option come the end of the season.
Those who most enjoy their time here at Rosario take advantage of the various outdoor activities available including kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing, whale watching, and island hopping. Passengers can walk on for free to explore any of the major San Juan islands via the Washington State Ferry system.

Being aware and respectful of our guests and fellow co-workers is very important to us and, in turn, we take pride in having a conscientious and good-natured staff season after season.
During the height of summer - and, indeed, during off-season surges in business - the property gets very busy. Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic and would be eager to fill the gaps and 'make it work' when the inevitable challenges of the season arise.
Room and Board
We offer affordable dorm style (2 employees per room) housing in two separate locations. One location (Hilltop) is located 1.4 miles from the resort for those arriving without transportation. The rent per employee is $150 per pay check (every two weeks). There is a laundry room on site (no charge) and a small kitchen with a mini fridge and microwave as well as a bathroom in each unit. The other location (Coho) is approximately 6 miles away for those arriving with transportation and is on the beach in Eastsound. The rent per employee ranges from $175 per paycheck (non-view room) to $187.50 (ocean view). There is a microwave, mini fridge and bathroom in each unit as well as a laundry room. This location also has a common room with a large living room and fully equipped kitchen.
Please note that there is a refundable deposit charged to each employee in the amount of $200. There are no pets allowed in our housing and only employees of Rosario Resort & Spa may reside in them.
All units have access to free wi-fi and all utilities and water sewer and garbage are included in the rent amount. All units are also furnished with a table, two chairs, two twin beds and two night stands.
We provide sheet sets, pillows, pillow cases, sample toiletries, towels and a bath mat. The kitchens at Hilltop are stocked with utensils and dishes.
Employee Perks
We are offering a season end bonus of $2 per hour worked from the beginning of June through September (specific end dates vary by department).
Rosario Resort & Spa offers competitive wages, 25% off food at our restaurants, 25% off spa services and merchandise in our gift shop located in the spa as well as the Cascade Bay Store.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Rosario Resort & Spa is located on Orcas Island, 80 miles northwest of Seattle, Washington, and 95 miles southwest of Vancouver, British Columbia, in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. The resort is situated on Cascade Bay, near the village of Eastsound and is accessible by water taxi, car ferry, boat, airplane, or seaplane.
For Fun
A variety of recreational activities are available on Orcas Island, most of which are located near the resort. Popular excursions include hiking the trails of neighboring Moran State Park, sea kayaking, sailing, whale watching, shopping in the quaint village of Eastsound, exploring island artisan galleries, or simply relaxing in The Spa at Rosario.
