We're hiring servers, bartenders, a housekeeping manager, hunting guides and even a nanny for the upcoming 2022/2023 season.  Seasonal positions will start in mid to late-October and conclude in the back half of March 2023.  We are not accepting H2B applicants at this time.

  • Housekeeping Manager- Year Round

    The housekeeping team at Rio Piedra creates the foundation of the overall guest experience and helps ensure our guests feel as though they arrived at their own personal sanctuary as soon as they step on property.  Because we limit occupancy to approximately 30 guests per night, our guests expect exceptional service and a commitment to cleanliness that one would find at any five-star hotel.   Successful candidates will possess a strong attention to detail, a positive attitude and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment. 

    The ideal start date for this position is early September, though we may be able to accommodate an earlier start.  We do close briefly for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Assist in the recruitment of local and seasonal staff
    • Train and manage a team to ensure an extremely high level of cleaning quality
    • Responsible for scheduling a team of 4 to 6 housekeepers, work closely with office staff to ensure staffing needs align with forecasted workload
    • Create value by:
      • Maximizing productivity of housekeeping team
      • Eliminating wasteful use of supplies
      • Ensuring complete guest satisfaction through excellent cleaning quality
    • Conduct daily room inspections to ensure quality of work and identify maintenance needs
    • Thoroughly clean all aspects of each room/cabin and maintain 5-star standards for cleanliness
    • Regularly clean common areas through the main lodge
    • Strip rooms of dirty linens and trash
    • Stock rooms with clean linens, amenities and make beds in a professional manner
    • Wash, dry and fold laundry- primarily linens
    • Communicate with the front desk when rooms are ready for guests

    Qualifications & Desired Skills:

    To be successful in this role, candidates will:

    • Have 2+ years managing a housekeeping team of 4+ employees
    • Experience with scheduling
    • Possess a strong attention to detail
    • Value cleanliness
    • Able to consistently lift 25+ pounds and make frequent trips up and down one level of stairs
    • Possess strong communication, organization & time management skills; work well as a team leader; ability anticipate potential challenges and problem-solve.
    • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Bachelor’s or Business Degree preferred.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills highly preferred.

    Compensation and other perks: 

    • Compensation based on experience but typically starts around $40,000 per year and is a combination of salary, tips and bonus.
    • While this position is offered as a full-time opportunity with commensurate compensation, candidates are only required to be on property 6 to 7 months out of the year and thus affords the candidate 5 to 6 months for vacation or to pursue additional employment opportunities.
    • Meals are provided on those days/shifts that you are working.

  • Assistant Dining Room Manager

    The Assistant Dining Room Manager assists our Dining Room MGR by assuming the day to day management responsibilities of dining room staff when the manager is not present.  This position is very much a player/coach role- a successful candidate will not only mentor and lead fellow servers but also perform many of the same duties.  This is the perfect position for individuals with experience as a server in a fine dining establishment looking to transition into a managerial role.

    The start date for this position is October 17th and runs through mid to late-March.  We do close briefly for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Salary based on experience and includes proceeds from the server tip pool.

    Job responsibilities;

    • Ensure fine dining etiquette is maintained and food and drinks are presented properly
    • Continuously demonstrate a commitment to genuine hospitality by providing warm, caring service
    • Provides direction and guidance to servers to ensure an exceptional guest experience
    • Conduct training sessions as necessary with team members to ensure quality and consistency in all aspects of the dining experience
    • Collaboratively seek ways to improve the guest experience and work with team members to incorporate service enhancements
    • Work with the executive chef to coordinate back of house and front of house activities
    • Assists executive chef in the scheduling of both local and non- local waitstaff
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas
    • Assist in other departments as needed

    Qualifications and desired skills:

    • 2+ years as a server in a fine dining establishment
    • Basic bartending experience is a plus
    • Wine knowledge preferred but not required
    • Knowledge of proper food handling, food storage, and sanitation procedures
    • Must have a valid driver’s license

    Hourly rate is based on experience but typically starts at $15.00 hour plus proceeds from the server tip pool.  Anticipated tips over the course of the season are between $4,000 and $6,500, based on hours worked.  Employee housing is provided, includes utilities (water, gas, electric, internet) and costs will not exceed $100/week (typically less).  Our goal is for each team member to have their own bedroom, though there is a small possibility you may have a roommate. Meals are provided on those days/shifts that you are working.

    Servers at Rio Piedra play an essential role in the overall guest experience and are responsible for providing the highest level of hospitality to all guests.  Because we limit occupancy to approximately 30 guests per night, our guests expect a more intimate and personalized experience.  Knowing this, it is necessary for all team members to have excellent customer service skills and to work diligently to anticipate and exceed guest expectations.  All prospective candidates should be well versed in luxury service standards.

    The start date for this position is October 19th and runs through mid to late-March.  We do close briefly for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Job responsibilities;

    • Complete all necessary setup/ tear-down work and closing duties as assigned
    • Check food presentation before taking food from the kitchen to the guest. Hot food hot and fresh!
    • Ensure proper fine dining etiquette is maintained and food and drinks are presented properly
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
    • Continuously monitor guest satisfaction and collaborate with the kitchen and waitstaff to improve the guest experience
    • Continuously demonstrate a commitment to genuine hospitality by providing warm, caring service
    • Hours variable and will include split shifts (breakfast/dinner).  Hours will include nights and weekends.

    Qualifications and desired skills:

    Rio Piedra Plantation is a luxury hunting lodge located in heart of the South Georgia plantation belt, a long-time winter destination for outdoor and quail hunting enthusiasts.  As the only 3-time Orvis® Endorsed Lodge of the Year Award recipient, Rio Piedra has become world renowned in the sporting community for exceptional quail hunting, well-appointed accommodations, and relaxed 5-star dining.  We are currently seeking wingshooting guides that share our passion for hunting and strive to provide guests with an authentic hunting experience. 

    The start date for this position is October 11th and runs through mid to March 20th, 2022.  We do close briefly for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Job responsibilities

    • Continuously demonstrate a commitment to genuine hospitality by providing warm, caring service
    • Ensure guest have a safe and enjoyable quail hunting experience
    • Possess strong communication skills and confidently instruct guests in safe gun handling protocols

    Qualifications and desired skills:

    • Possess a passion for upland wingshooting and a desire to provide intimate knowledge of the surrounding area, flora, fauna, natural history.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills:

    • 1+ years as a hunting guide (preferably wing shooting guide experience)

    Bartender/Server

    Dining room staff at Rio Piedra play an essential role in the overall guest experience and are responsible for providing the highest level of hospitality to all guests.  Because we limit occupancy to a maximum of 30 guests per night, our guests expect a more intimate and personalized experience.  Knowing this, it is necessary for all team members to have excellent customer service skills and to work diligently to anticipate and exceed guest expectations.  All prospective candidates should be well versed in luxury service standards.

    The start date for this position is October 19th and runs through mid to late-March.  We do close briefly for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Job responsibilities;

    • This is a hybrid role primarily focused on bartending but also will include waitstaff responsibilities
    • Responsible for preparing cocktails, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests
    • Work alongside F&B staff to provide a solid knowledge of wine and mixed drinks.
    • Develop seasonal signature cocktail list
    • Conduct daily inventory checks and prepare beverage and bar supply orders
    • Keep manager and owners apprised of guest preferences and make recommendations that enhance our level of service
    • Complete all necessary setup/ tear-down work and closing duties as assigned

  • Nanny/House Manager

    The owners of Rio Piedra are looking to staff a nanny position that includes some house manager responsibilities for our two creative and active boys aged 6 and 8.  Knowing the seasonal nature of the business requires long hours for both parents, the ideal candidate will not only be able to provide a fun and safe environment for our boys but also should be highly organized and have excellent time management skills.

    The start date for this position is September 6th and runs through mid to late-March.  We are able to accommodate an earlier start and a later finish date.  We do close briefly for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Job responsibilities

    • Transportation for children to and from school and any after-school activities. (vehicle provided)
    • Homework supervision and tutoring as needed
    • Seek out and introduce engaging and fun activities that keep both boys mentally stimulated
    • Bathing, dressing children
    • Children's laundry
    • Maintain clean house between housekeeper cleaning days
    • Grocery shopping
    • Occasionally run errands (drug store, dry cleaning, etc)
    • Occasional evening and/or weekend babysitting
    • Assist in managing household schedule and calendar including registering for children activities (programs/activities/sports/camps)
    • Packing school lunches for children and dinner prep boy and occasionally for the whole family
    • Plan and carry out weekend activities for the boys - including outings, attending birthday parties, or creative playtime at home.

    Qualifications, desired skills, and additional considerations:

    • Childcare: 2 years (Required)
    • Nanny: 2 years (Preferred)
    • The ideal candidate has started or completed college.
    • Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management skills and efficient
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills
